What season is it?! It’s GISHWHES season, aka one of the greatest times of the year! For those of you who don’t know what GISHWHES is, it’s the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen and the genius behind this fun-filled, adventure-packed, and incredible event is none other than the stupendous Misha Collins! Misha Collins is the consummate actor who has brought us all into another world in the highly-acclaimed, top-ranked, award-winning show, Supernatural. In addition to showing the world his indescribable and brilliant acting talent, he has also managed to bring people from all over the world together and allow them to create new memories and friendships through GISHWHES.
GISHWHES is returning back for its 5th year in a row and it is bound to be even bigger and better than any year prior. The worldwide scavenger hunt will be taking place on July 31st to August 6th. At the end of the scavenger hunt, the winning 15 members will get an unforgettable, all expenses paid trip with Misha Collins to explore Iceland – talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity!
GISHWHES brings together creativity, kindness and tons of hilarious moments and allows thousands of individuals from over 100 countries to join together in this extravagant scavenger hunt. So many of our favorite celebrities have even joined in on the fun including Chris Pratt, John Green, Larry King, William Shatner, and Tony Hawk, to name a few. In fact, NASA even named a mountain on Mars after the scavenger hunt – now that takes GISHWHES to a whole different level. GISHWHES actually holds a total of seven Guinness World Records, and we can only expect even more coming for this outstanding event!
So, this is how GISHWHES works: “Teams take on a list of over 200 items, uploading pictures or videos of their completed items to the GISHWHES website. At the end of the hunt a team of shadowy judges analyze the thousands of submissions until the team with the highest overall points is identified and crowned Winner.” (source: press release)
GISHWHES also focuses heavily on giving back and just recently Misha Collins, William Shatner, and more hosted a digital scavenger hunt on Tumblr which helped raised thousands of dollars to be donated to charities including The Trevor Project, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Hope Chest and more.
