We all know how important technology is in our life – from having to do our homeworks and essays on the computer and submitting a printed copy of our work to our teachers, to even keeping updated with all of the current affairs in the world. It seems as though the life we live is becoming more and more reliant on technology as the days go by; and that’s why this month, in an all new episode of Nickelodeon’s stupendous show, The HALO Effect, we are celebrating Christopher Cao and his amazing efforts to help give underprivileged children access to technology. The new episode, “Reboot for Youth” airs on Friday, July 22nd at 8:30 PM ET / PT.

According to the press release, “Cao’s interest in rebuilding computers for families in need started in 2013 when he was a volunteer at GIVE, a free tutoring program for low-income families.  While tutoring, Cao met a young student who did not have a computer at home and was forced to use the public library computers each night to complete homework.  In 2014, Cao decided to start “Reboot for Youth,” an organization focused on improving educational opportunities for underprivileged children in his community, through increased access to technology.  The organization reaches out to local businesses to donate old or broken computers, which Cao and his team then diagnose, rebuild and distribute to those in need.”

It is so incredible to see how Christopher Cao is putting together his passion for technology with his love for helping others – such an inspiring story of a wonderful teen who serves as a great role model to this generation. Christopher Cao has already helped distribute over 150 computers within his community and has even helped introduce similar projects to other countries including Kenya, Costa Rica, Vietnam and Cambodia. As a result of all of his hard work and efforts to make this world a better place, Nickelodeon is awarding a $10,000 grant to Cao’s organization.

In every outstanding episode of Nickelodeon’s The HALO Effect, the profiled teen brings out a #HALOEffectChallenge so viewers can join in and show their support. Christopher Cao is asking all of you to turn an old household item into something new and share a photo of the finished project on social media using #HALOEffectChallenge! Such a great challenge and it’s time for us all to put our DIY skills to the test!

The show is hosted by the lovely and marvelous Sydney Park. The HALO Effect is truly a Nickelodeon masterpiece and it motivates everyone to Help And Lead Others!
