Smurf the alarm 🚨- it’s the day we all have been waiting for! It’s time to take a trip to Smurf Village with the all new The Smurfs series premiering on Nickelodeon today, Sept. 10 at 7:30 PM ET / PT. From testing out their “Smurf-Fu” skills to trying not to get captured by the feared Gargamel, the Smurfs are always up for an adventure, and now, they’re taking us along with them for another unforgettable ride! Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and the rest of the high-spirited Smurfs crew are heading back to our TV screens after nearly 40 years and needless to say, tons of wonderful surprises await in this lighthearted series.
Entering the Smurfs universe brings people of all ages an instant feeling of jubilance – from hearing their cheerful song that encourages everyone to smurf the whole day long to learning all of the Smurfs’ lingo. What makes The Smurfs series so special are each of the characters. From courageous and head-strong Smurfette, to the warm, father figure of the Smurfs family, Papa Smurf, know-it-all Brainy and more, it’s so enjoyable to get acquainted with each of the Smurfs and their quirky and unique characteristics that makes each one different from the next.
This all new show, in partnership with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS, is truly something different from what anyone has seen from The Smurfs world. The CG-animation is crystal clear and absolutely flawless, coinciding with the updated times and great innovation we have today in animation. All of the episodes have fresh, new ideas and thrilling journeys that the Smurfs have never been on before. It goes without saying that kids and their families have a lot of smurf-tacular excitement to look forward to co-viewing this wonderful, new series. Plus, there are even a bunch of new characters that fans will get to meet in this show and they are bound to smurf over your hearts in a millisecond!
“In the premiere episode, “Smurf-Fu,” when Smurfette rescues Brainy from a giant snake, the other Smurfs ask her to teach them “Smurf-Fu.” Next, in “Diaper Daddy,” when everyone is tired of changing Baby’s diapers, Handy decides to invent a robot that will do the job” (source: press release).
The remarkable cast bringing all of The Smurfs charm to life includes David Freeman (7 Promises) as Papa Smurf, the father figure keeping the other Smurfs in line; Bérangère McNeese (Matriochkas) as Smurfette, a curious Smurf who is always ready to take part in new adventures; Lenny Mark Irons (No Man’s Land) as Gargamel, a conniving human wizard with a bottomless thirst to capture Smurfs; Youssef El Kaoukibi (NRJ Belgium) as Brainy, who considers himself the smartest of the bunch; and Catherine Hershey (Boundary Games) as Willow, the brave and wise matriarch of a new tribe of girl Smurfs (source: press release).
One character that steals everyone’s heart is none other than Smurfette! She brings so much girl power to the Smurfs sphere. She’s brave, adventurous, incredibly sweet, and she always makes a great impact. Smurfette is such an inspiration to viewers all over the world and we have learnt so much from her and her vivacious, fearless personality. Everything she does, she always adds her special Smurfette flair to it, making her the icon she truly is.
