The holidays are here and in addition to the gift-giving, the yummy treats, and spending time with loved ones, one of the best parts about the most wonderful time of the year is getting to enjoy tons of amazing, holiday movies. One film that should definitely be at the top of your “must-watch” queue is Nickelodeon’s A Loud House Christmas, based off of the highly-acclaimed, Nickelodeon animated series, The Loud House! With an incredible cast bringing all of the Loud family fun to our screens, it’s clear to see why A Loud House Christmas became TV’s top kids entertainment telecast of 2021, according to Deadline. On its premiere weekend, the very merry film garnered over 3.1 million total viewers, and fans continue to watch the marvelous movie on Nickelodeon and streaming on Paramount+ to ring in the holiday season.
It just goes to show the great impact that The Loud House has on all viewers. Needless to say, taking on such iconic characters and bringing them to life is no easy feat, and yet the brilliant Muretta Moss was able to portray the fan-favorite role of none other than Rita Loud so effortlessly in the film. Moss does justice to her role as the lovable matriarch of the Loud family and she brings so many laughs and memorable scenes to our screens. Moss’s acting skills are truly impeccable. The work that she and the entire cast put into this movie paid off in creating a Christmas miracle of a film and they all have made the Loud family like a second family to all viewers.
In addition to her exceptional work in A Loud House Christmas, Moss has also shared her talent in the series, Intersection. Not only did the remarkable actress star in the show, but she also took on the roles of co-creator and writer of the series. Talk about being one multi-talented and multi-faceted individual! The series is bound to be a massive hit across the festival circuit. Moss has also worked on the CBS show, The Inspectors, short films including The Transition and Peggy, and a web series she wrote with two friends titled, Dyed, Highlighted, and Hopeful.
When she’s not busy on set working on another stellar project of hers, the outstanding Muretta Moss is hosting her terrific podcast, Counter Parenting. The podcast dives in and talks about co-parenting for the step-parent and is truly something so fantastic and informative to listen to.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess had an awesome time interviewing the lovely Muretta Moss all about what it was like for her to have taken on the renowned role of Rita Loud in A Loud House Christmas, what’s a memory that sticks out to her the most from working on the film, what kind of treat she thinks her character would leave out for Santa, and so much more only in our VIPAccessEXCLUSIVE interview. AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Congratulations on all of the outstanding success with your career. First off, can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?
Muretta Moss: Thank you so much. You know, I don’t really understand why we are pulled to certain things in life — it feels like a cosmic force that pulls me to acting. I’m also pretty “woo-woo,” so I like to think of it that way, being divinely guided. The creative process of film and TV is so interesting to me: so many people, different departments all working together from the spark of an idea, a story. The first time I stepped onto a film set was when they were filming at my college. It was a game changer and when I started taking acting seriously. Sometimes you have to see it in action to know that it is possible. I think anyone who has the urge to be an actor or creative should follow that urge!
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: You star in Nickelodeon’s A Loud House Christmas that brings all of the holiday cheer and magic to our screens. The Loud House is such an iconic show, so can you tell us what it was like for you being able to bring such a legendary character like Rita Loud to life?
Muretta Moss: I slid pretty easily into the role of live-action Rita Loud. I was not expecting to and I definitely felt intimidated to play this beloved animated character. I wasn’t familiar with The Loud House series and now realize I’ve been missing out on some good TV. Because Rita is an established character, I have the distinct benefit of knowing her life and background, who Rita is. But on the other side of that, what is the balance between being a cartoon character and a real person? Luckily, I found it. Rita is very relatable with or without eleven children. She does her best, she’s not perfect, and she’s pretty fun. Plus, she’s always bending those elbows and doing something quirky with her arms, which I can definitely relate to unintentionally.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Do you have a behind-the-scenes fun fact or special memory you can share with us that sticks out to you the most from working on the movie?
Muretta Moss: This on-screen family really became a bonded family off-screen too. One of my favorite memories was the first day of shooting. It was the infamous snowball fight we had in the middle of May in Atlanta. I was holding Lily, the youngest, played by Charlotte Ann Tucker. When you play a mom on set, you automatically take on some motherly duties, like protecting the young ones at all cost from vicious snowballs! Turns out, Charlotte did not need any protection. She wanted to be put down and get in on the action. I trepidatiously let her because it’s the first day of shooting and I wanted this perfect child to like me, but also didn’t want her to get blasted with a snowball and be out for the count on my watch. Well, she had one of the best snowball-throwing arms out there. I needed her to protect me.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: One of the many things viewers will be gushing over in this movie is how the essence of the characters were really able to be translated from animated to IRL, even down to the details in each of the characters’ rooms. If you could keep anything from the set of A Loud House Christmas, what would it be?
Muretta Moss: The family photos on the wall would be my first take. The art department dressed the house in photos of us, the live-action family. There were a few photos of the entire family. I know I have the movie as a memory, but those photos were sweet. Though if I hung them up in my own house, my actual family might have some questions. Also, that kitchen, the cabinet color, and black and white checkered floors — love it.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: One holiday tradition we all know of is leaving cookies out for Santa. What kind of treat do you think Rita Loud would leave out for Santa?
Muretta Moss: Leftovers. Not because she’s lazy, but because she knows Santa would really like a hearty meal — and who doesn’t love some leftovers? Well, I don’t, but I think Santa does. There would be a sugar cookie for dessert, but I definitely see a plate of meat and mashed potatoes.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: If you could give your character a holiday gift, what would it be?
Muretta Moss: A spa weekend to herself. Rita needs to be pampered! She does a great job at delegating chores around the house, but sometimes you just need the peace and quiet of a sauna and the touch of a masseuse. Totally talking about Rita…not me…Rita, but also hint-hint.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Aside from working on A Loud House Christmas, you also co-created, wrote, and starred in the series, Intersection. What was it like for you wearing so many hats while working on this project?
Muretta Moss: Intersection was a challenging and rewarding project. I did wear a lot of hats and I loved doing it. All of these hats were parts of a whole and I’m thankful to our executive producer, Meg Messmer, who put all the parts together into a great, final work. We worked together and during production when we weren’t acting. We were production assistants, talent wranglers, and craft services. Working an indie set is in and of itself a workout.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: You’re always keeping busy on so many excellent projects. In fact, you’ll also be launching a podcast called Counter Parenting. Can you tell us a little bit more about that?
Muretta Moss: Counter Parenting is a podcast about co-parenting for the step-parent. I’m trying to take the “evil” out of step-parenting for everyone. There are these invisible lines that a step-parent must walk to keep everything in balance and it is really challenging. I speak with divorce lawyers, therapists, life coaches, successful step-parents, and pick their brain on all things co-parenting to help all those step-parents out there feel empowered. I think it’s needed. There’s a lot of information about co-parenting, but not so much real, practical information for the steps.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
Muretta Moss: You have a home in the Loud House. I hope anyone out there that might feel a little lonely or different around the holidays, or anytime really, can turn on A Loud House Christmas and know they are accepted and loved. XO.
