When we hear the name “Frida Kahlo,” many wonderful things come to mind: a one-of-a-kind, visionary of an artist, a true vanguard in the world of art, a pioneer in women’s history, and someone who overcame any obstacles that came her way to create some of the most awe-inspiring and impressive paintings this world has ever seen. Now, it’s time to see the iconic Frida Kahlo’s artwork in a way that hasn’t been done before at the Immersive Frida Kahlo exhibit located at the former Amoeba Records building in Hollywood, California. The marvelous experience, which has tickets available from now until July 4, gives a comprehensive look at what makes Frida Kahlo the artistic genius she truly is.
Following suit after the great success of Immersive Van Gogh, Lighthouse Immersive and Impact Museums are back to co-produce the Immersive Frida Kahlo experience and welcome fans near and far to enter in the life of this trailblazing artist. 500,000 cubic feet of art and 1,200,000 frames of video displays a mesmerizing montage of Frida Kahlo’s life right before our eyes. The exhibit’s catchphrase is “Her Life. Her Love. Her Art.” Throughout the 41-minute long production, we’re able to see just that – her life and the many pivotal and poignant moments within it, her love, Diego Rivera, and of course, her unrivaled artwork that made her the legend we all know and love.
Upon entering the experience, guests are greeted by Immersive Frida Kahlo’s accommodating staff. Before fully setting foot into Kahlo’s world, attendees can stop by the experience’s bar to grab some drinks and treats and also take some snaps in front of an enlarged, mosaic Frida Kahlo photo-opp. More fun ways to engage with Frida Kahlo are laid out before the experience including a look at the personal and political style of an icon as well as an interactive activity to line up the many faces of Kahlo.
Then, it’s time to feel Frida Kahlo’s presence surrounding you in every corner of the extravagant space. The show is brought about by the creative eye of Massimilliano Siccardi. The presentation features paintings including The Two Fridas, The Wounded Deer, Girl With Death Mask, and more. From seeing vivid, bold, and bright colors in a scene of the ruins of Mexico, to photos of a young Frida, the composition of the production is simply brilliant and perfectly showcases the aspects that made Frida… the one and only, Frida Kahlo. The exhibition is coupled with the powerful and moving, musical composition of composer Luca Longobardi. The score is another extraordinary element that adds to the grandiose display.
Experiencing Immersive Frida Kahlo is something you will never forget. It’s such a breathtaking and captivating opportunity to relish in this stupendous show and see something different each time you turn your head to view another part of the exhibit.
