The wonderful Lizzy Small is a spectacular actress and singer – talk about being multi-talented! Lizzy Small has exhibited her talent in many excellent projects including the film, Spare Parts, where she worked alongside George Lopez, Marisa Tomei and Jamie Lee Curtis. In addition, Lizzy Small has also been a part of other fantastic projects including The Middle, Hip Hop Harry, and more!

Besides being a marvelous actress, Lizzy Small is also a magnificent singer. Lizzy Small has a remarkable song out titled “Always Be There,” which also received well over 3,000,000 listens on Soundcloud. She also wrote and sang in the video for the song “Gravity.” Working on her music and acting projects, Lizzy Small still makes sure school is a top priority as she is also a full-time college honors student. Needless to say, Lizzy Small is an amazing role model to all of her fans!

I, Alexisjoyvipaccess had the great pleasure of interviewing the dazzling Lizzy Small! Check out our VIPAccessEXCLUSIVE interview below to find out what inspired her to become an actress, what the atmosphere was like working on set of her movie, Spare Parts, how she balances being a singer, actress, and full-time college honors student, and so much more! Alexisjoyvipaccess: What inspired you to become an actress?

Lizzy Small: I have always loved performing; it is something that makes me feel invigorated and free. Growing up at family barbecues, I would put on little shows for my family dressed in ridiculous outfits singing, dancing, and coming up with original skits. I have always been inspired by the notion of story telling and I believe that performing—whether its acting, singing, or dancing, is my form of storytelling with the world. 

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You worked on the movie Spare Parts with George Lopez and Marisa Tomei. What was the atmosphere like working on set of the film? 

Lizzy Small: The atmosphere was so much fun and so welcoming! George became like a mentor to me, giving me some tips and advice as an actor in this business, and he reminded me to always allow myself to play and think outside the box. I loved working with this cast and crew, it was truly a blessing and we all became one big goofy family.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could work alongside any other actor or actress in a future project, who would it be? 
Lizzy Small: Wow this is a tough question because there are so many actors and actresses that I would love the opportunity to work with. I think as of right now, I would really love to work with Robert DeNiro. I have grown up watching many of his films and his performance in Silver Linings Playbook gives me the chills every time I watch it. It would be an honor to work with him, he is such a powerful actor and I definitely think I could learn a thing or two from him.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: In addition to being an amazing actress, you’re also a terrific singer. Can you tell us where you get your inspiration for your music? 
Lizzy Small: Music is 100 percent me. Every lyric I write comes from some idea inside my head or personal experience I’ve been through. I love being able to pursue music because it is so experimental and explorative. Every time I write, I discover something new and one simple word or phrase can grow to have such a stronger meaning than I originally thought. My music is definitely me, uncensored, vulnerable, and honest.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: What was the creative process like for you working on your song “Always Be There?” 
Lizzy Small: The creative process for “Always be There,” was truly simple. I worked in the studio with an amazing songwriter and producer, David Pramik, and together we created this song. This song is really personal for me and comes from a place of truth. I always start my days in the studio with a classic notebook and pen, with pages and pages available to write and scribble in. We pull out the notebook and an acoustic guitar, and David will start messing around with some guitar chords as I sing random melodies and lyrics until we find one that feels right and then everything starts to flow from there. “Always be There” was truly a song of release for me, something I wrote to move forward from a personal experience, and releasing it was very rewarding and liberating for me.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Besides acting and singing, you’re also a full-time college honors student. How do you balance it all? 
Lizzy Small: The way I balance my life comes from having passion. If I wasn’t passionate about pursuing my professional career while being a full-time college student, I don’t think I would still be doing it because trust me, it can be draining and challenging. I truly love everything I do, and would not be who I am without it all, which constantly reminds me to look at everything I do as opportunities and not chores. I also keep my family and dear friends close to me. They always remind me not to sweat the small stuff and keep me focused on what’s best for me.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: What other upcoming projects are you working on that fans can look forward to?

Lizzy Small: I am currently in pre-production for a new film I am doing titled, Brothers of Justice which films in Toronto, Canada. It is a film based on a true story about an ex-gang member who becomes a civil rights attorney and my role is very different from anything else I have done before. I am looking forward to filming it, and will also be working on writing and producing some new music, so keep those eyes and ears open.

 Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be? 

Lizzy Small: My message to anyone would truly be to find what makes you happy and never stop doing it. People will always tell you that you can’t do something or attempt to make you believe that what you aim for is not possible, but our job is to prove them wrong. The best part of this world is that we have the power to make choices and pursue what we want to, so go after what it is that you can’t live without—trust me it’s worth it!
