If the renowned and prestigious 2016 Latin American Music Awards could be described in just one word, it would be: wow! From the spectacular musicians who were honored at the award show, to all of the viewers at home, the Latin American Music Awards was definitely an award show that left everyone absolutely awe-inspired. There were so many iconic celebrities and Spanish and English-language singers who attended the event, a host of unforgettable highlights, and some of the greatest performances we have ever seen. The 2016 Latin AMAs promised a marvelous and sensational night, and it truly gave that and more. The award show was nothing short of a musical masterpiece and it all happened at the one and only Latin American Music Awards.

The remarkable 2016 Latin American Music Awards took place on October 6, 2016 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. There are so many words to describe the fantastic Latin AMAs – “stupendous,” “extraordinary,” “exceptional,” and “incredible” are just a few, and without a doubt, the award show made music history as one of the most epic and greatest days in the entertainment world and in Hollywood!

The event started off with a terrific, purple carpet where all of our favorite celebrities walked and smiled from ear to ear as they showed their fantastic event attire. A very special pre-show, “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs” took place prior to the award show and gave everyone a look at all of the awesome fashions that were being rocked at the event. Then, the 2016 Latin AMAs kicked off with tons of excitement. Actress, TV host, and singer, Lucero hosted the phenomenal event and many of our favorite musicians were honored with their well-deserved awards. Enrique Iglesias was honored with a total of five awards tonight, Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga won three awards, and CNCO took home two awards. Fans got their votes on as they voted all the way up until the live broadcast of the show to see CNCO win the award of “New Artist of the Year.”

In addition to all of the marvelous musicians receiving their awards at the event, so many outstanding performances took place at the 2016 Latin AMAs which added to the many reasons why this night was so special. Worldwide sensation, the immensely talented and charming band, DVICIO left everyone speechless with their brilliant performance of their hit song, “Enamorate.” “Mr. Worldwide,” Pitbull gave fans a memorable performance as he brought Flo Rida and Lunchmoney Lewis on stage to sing his great song, “Greenlight” along with him. In addition, the profound actress and singer, Idina Menzel took on the stage and performed for the first time on US Spanish-language TV and blew everyone away, as always, with her angelic singing voice. To top off the wonderful night, a very touching and heartwarming tribute was made for the iconic and stupendous Juan Gabriel. Lila Dows, Aida Cuevas and Shaila Durcal mesmerized everyone with a superb tribute performance and were accompanied by Mariachi De Mi Tierra Juan Gabriel and 48 additional mariachi musicians. The tribute was produced by Juan Gabriel collaborator Gustavo Farias and arranged by Eduardo Magallanes.

Other excellent celebrities attended the event including singing sensation, Johann Vera, social media star, author and actress, Lele Pons (who presented at the event), and nominees / musicians including Sofia Reyes (who had a brilliant performance at the event), Sebastian Yatra, the remarkable Prince Royce (who performed and was nominated), Nicky Jam (who had everyone jamming out to his hit song, “Hasta El Amanecer”), Jonathan Moly, Jesse y Joy, Gente De Zona, and the one and only Sheila E and her iconic father, Pete Escovedo, amongst many, many others.

As a whole, the 2016 Latin American Music Awards goes down in history as one of the most exceptional awards shows that has ever taken place!
