Imagine going to work every day doing what you love with people who are just as passionate as you are at a workplace that stimulates so much creativity and joy. For the over 700 Nickelodeon employees, they don’t have to imagine it, they get to experience it, embrace it, and be inspired by it at the new, state-of-the-art west coast headquarters in Burbank, California. Yesterday, January 11, 2017 marked a monumental day for the Nickelodeon brand and all of its employees, creators, talent, and beyond, as it opened its doors to their new, brilliant facility in Burbank. With chalkboards on each of the five floors of the building to allow creators to brainstorm their ideas, to a new recording studio, a health and wellness center, and a targeted LEED Gold Certification through sustainable strategies and resources, it’s clear to see that Nickelodeon has yet again surpassed everyone’s expectations and never fails to leave everyone in awe.
The outstanding celebration of the opening of the new facility was a historic day for Nickelodeon with President of the Nickelodeon Group Cyma Zarghami, President and CEO, Viacom Inc. Robert Bakish, Vice Chair of the Board Shari Redstone, and the Mayor of Burbank, Jess Talamantes all present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, the voices of iconic animated characters Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Star, respectively, as well as creator and EP of “The Fairly Oddparents” and “Bunsen is a Beast” Butch Hartman were present to celebrate this milestone for the Nickelodeon brand. “Game Shakers” stars Cree Cicchino, Madisyn Shipman, Thomas Kuc, and Benjamin Flores Jr. and “The Thundermans” star Jack Griffo helped cut the ribbon at the magnificent ceremony.
During the exciting ribbon-cutting ceremony, Zarghami stated that Nickelodeon is “ushering in a new era of creativity” to continue “the goal of making this world a more playful place.”
The new west coast headquarters brings about a place that helps the masterpieces and magic of all of Nickelodeon’s exceptional projects be brought to life. The Burbank complex also has a rotating art gallery with marvelous artwork from both internal and external artists. In addition, there is an archive and library which features creators’ notes, magazines, and other items that show Nickelodeon’s everlasting impact in the entertainment world and great success from its ’90s series to this date and age and beyond.
It’s clear to see that Nickelodeon has created a facility that allows employees, creators, and talent to be happy to go to work every day and be able to be at a place where they feel the happiness, energy and positivity that the brand brings. This new facility is a second home for those that work at Nickelodeon because with a place as wonderful as this new building, people don’t mind not being at home. Nickelodeon’s new building also has a beautiful, over 23,000 foot courtyard that serves as a connection between the new and original Burbank buildings. Employees can take a look out of their windows and see the fantastic view of the courtyard. The courtyard also has banners that represent all of the live-action and animated shows in production as well as stone benches with quotes and artwork from live-action and animated projects.
Other highlights of the impressive Nickelodeon building includes a screening room, a new recording studio to add onto the two existing ones, a fitness room and a Zen garden as part of the health and wellness center. Of course, the geniuses behind some of our favorite TV shows are bound to get hungry sometime when they are busy at work, so Nickelodeon’s new complex also has a cafe as well. Nickelodeon always makes a workplace enjoyable for everyone and even has a music room, a game room, and arcade.
