
Each year, Beautycon continues to surpass attendees’ expectations by bringing a whole lot of excitement. Makeup enthusiasts are able to gather together and shop for products that are at the top of their wish-lists. They are able to join in and listen to a countless amount of insightful and fascinating panels. And, of course, they are able to meet tons of terrific celebrities and beauty gurus that they idolize. Beautycon Festival LA wrapped up another successful year as it made its way to the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California on August 10 – August 11, 2019. The two-day convention was hosted by none other than everyone’s favorite hunnay, Jeannie Mai.
During both days, makeup lovers packed the convention space as they snapped some super cute Instagram-worthy pics, showcased their outstanding, makeup skills and enjoyed some fun activations from several brands. Fan-favorite makeup brands including Ulta Beauty, Huda Beauty, Too Faced Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Glossier, Lime Crime, L’Oreal Paris, OGX, Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl, and many others, were on site and helped attendees leave the event with a bag filled of make-up must-haves. The convention was filled with brands’ booths and thousands and thousands of excited attendees. When renowned figures in the beauty community made their way to the event, fans clamored to get a glimpse and meet their favorite beauty icons.
Day 1 of Beautycon Festival LA kicked off in a spectacular way. Actress Priyanka Chopra looked super chic at the event and took part in the “Illuminated” fireside chat. The chat was moderated by Beautycon founder and CEO, Moj Mahdara. During the fireside chat, Chopra discussed global beauty standards and the importance of women supporting women. Chopra said, “The more I champion women in my own small way, maybe I’ll be able to create a world where women run the show.”
The first day of Beautycon Festival LA continued with more treats for attendees. Jen Atkin, admired hairstylist for celebrities including the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi and Bella Hadid and more, took part in a panel titled, “Expanding Upon Influence.” Atkin was joined by TV personality and fashion designer, Draya Michele. The panel was moderated by Steph Shep.

Music sensation French Montana visited Beautycon Festival LA to chat with Beautycon #BossLady, Moj Mahdara about the impact that women make and the team of ladies supporting him every step of the way. French Montana proudly praised his team and said, “My whole team is full of women, women take care of you and [they] do it from the heart if they love you. I came from a single mother home, boys grow more love for their mother.”
Day 1 continued with more fun including dance breaks and performances by Montana Tucker, KidaTheGreat and Aliya Janell. Charlamagne The God sat down to chat with the one and only, Kelly Rowland in the fireside chat titled, “Driving Your Own Destiny.” Rowland talked about her much-anticipated, new projects as well as how much this year has been so great for her. Rowland said, “2019 Kelly Rowland is full of joy. I’m happy in my skin – secure in being myself and understanding womanhood, motherhood, wifehood… I’m in a constant state of learning every day.”

The last fireside chat of day 1 of Beautycon Festival LA truly was an unforgettable one. The phenomenal Ms. Tina Knowles Lawson talked with Moj Mahdara about “the impact that cultural representation has had on her life, and by extension the importance it plays for her daughters, Beyonce and Solange” (source: press release). It goes without saying, mama truly Knowles best!

The day ended off with a brilliant, live, makeup tutorial from singer and songwriter, Jhene Aiko. Aiko performed her tutorial on make-up influencer, Bretman Rock.

Celebrity attendees at day 1 of Beautycon Festival LA included Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rowland, French Montana, Bretman Rock, Jhené Aiko, Tina Knowles Lawson, Anastasia Soare, Lisa Rinna, Patrick Starrr, Steph Shep, Tokyo Stylez, Charlamagne Tha God, Rosie Rivera, Louie Castro, Patty Rodriguez, Flaviana Matata, Esmeralda Hernandez, Carolina Contreras, Manny MUA, Jen Atkin and Draya Michele.
Day 2 continued with great energy. The day started off with a fantastic, fireside chat titled, “Powerful with a Purpose.” Panel speakers included Liza Koshy, Marsai Martin, Wuzzam Supa, Angie Nwandu and was moderated by power publicist, Patientce Foster. Speakers discussed the importance of using their influence for good. Liza Koshy said, “You are not a number. You have power and purpose…whatever you have, promote it and preach it.”

Another sensational, fireside chat took place with Academy Award-nominated actress, Yalitza Aparicio. The exceptional, Roma actress talked about representing indigenous women and said, “My primary goal is to make roads for others to outperform and outdo everything I’ve done so far. It is not my individual strength but strength of my people and my fans to take this on together. We all have the responsibility to be vocal and outspoken for our people and fight for equality.”

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion chatted with musician Kehlani all about having a hot girl summer and how it’s more than just enjoying this summer, it’s about having a hot girl lifestyle! The Q&A was moderated by Moj Mahdara.
Moj Mahdara also chatted with the women behind the billion-dollar beauty empire, Huda Beauty… Huda Kattan and Mona Kattan. The beauty icons spoke about female leadership and your purpose in the world of social media.

The last fireside chat of Beautycon Festival LA 2019 was another magnificent one with the multi-talented and multi-faceted, Ciara and the unrivaled businesswoman and founder of The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington. Ciara and Arianna Huffington spoke about entrepreneurship and self-love. Ciara said, “There is a power to loving yourself and taking care of yourself. If you love yourself, you can love others the right way and get the love you deserve from others.”
Arianna Huffington wrapped the fireside chat with some terrific words of wisdom. Huffington encouraged guests to say something great they want to declare while putting on their makeup and say three things they are grateful for as they take off their makeup.
The excellent event came to a close with a reflection from Angela Davis. Day 2 of Beautycon Festival LA was attended by Ciara, Arianna Huffington, Huda Kattan, Megan Thee Stallion, Jeannie Mai, Yalitza Aparicio, Maxine Waters, Kehlani, Wuzzam Supa, Hung Vanngo, Ming Lee, Mimi Choi, Sheika Daley, Erika La’ Pearl, Angela Davis, Rachel Goodwin, Karen Civil, Sadaf Beauty, Melly Sanchez, Morgan Pormer and MAAD.
There’s no event quite like Beautycon. Not only is it a makeup lover’s heaven, it’s also a place that celebrates diversity, self-love and working hard.
