“We took to the skies to change the world, but you don’t change the world simply by looking at it – you change it by living in it.” – Amelia Wren, The Aeronauts
The world marveled over Amelia Wren and James Glaisher’s hot air balloon journey, and now, people all over the world are counting down the days until the release of Amazon Prime Video’s original film, The Aeronauts in theaters on December 4th and on Amazon Prime Video on December 20th. The film, which is based on real events, is captivating from start to finish. The movie chronicles the journey that aeronaut Amelia Wren and dedicated scientist James Glaisher take to fly higher than anyone in history has ever flown in a hot air balloon. Throughout their flight, Amelia Wren, played by the brilliant Felicity Jones, and James Glaisher, played by the profound Eddie Redmayne, encounter perilous challenges and life-or-death situations all while they make impactful, scientific discoveries about the weather and learn more about their place in the world. With adventure in every scene and a countless amount of jaw-dropping moments, The Aeronauts is a beautifully-created film that will mesmerize you at every moment.
Directed by Tom Harper and produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, The Aeronauts is a masterpiece. Every person who worked on this film truly put their heart and soul into it. In fact, the filmmakers even used a drone to capture the scenes of Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne actually up in a hot air balloon – no green-screen, it’s all real. With breathtaking cinematography and the unrivaled, acting talents of Jones and Redmayne, The Aeronauts is bound to help viewers reclaim a sense of wonder.
To get everyone even more excited for the film, Amazon Prime Video has set out on a nationwide tour bringing the magic of the movie to cities all across the country for people to experience in real life. Kicking off The Aeronauts’ Incredible Journey at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California with a VIP night that took place on November 22nd, attendees were brought back to 1862 in the setting of a Victorian fair as they got to join in on all of the fun at this immersive experience. Upon entering the event, guests were welcomed by performers dressed in Victorian-inspired attire. Attendees also got to enjoy hypnosis shows, cartoonists, a tight-rope walker, games and more.

There were even opportunities to take pictures inside “The Mammoth” air balloon, and for those who were feeling extra adventurous, there was a chance to ride up in a hot air balloon as well. Needless to say, The Aeronauts’ Incredible Journey event truly brought the film to life in the most unforgettable way. Other festivities included a sweet treats table filled with candies, the opportunity to view costumes worn by Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne in the film, and delicious snacks to munch on including popcorn, pretzels and other awesome treats.

The highlight of the event was the screening of the remarkable film on the first-ever Fly-in Theatre, a 20-foot LED screen wrapped 360 degrees around a hot air balloon. Attendees were able to sit under the stars and watch The Aeronauts in the most memorable way.
