Alexisjoyvipaccess: Congratulations on all of the incredible success with your career! First off, can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Your show, Diary of a Future President is currently streaming on Disney+. What was the experience like for you working on the series?
Charlie Bushnell: Working on this show was a dream come true! It was probably the best summer of my life. Everyone was so amazing and fun! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: What is your favorite part about playing your character, Bobby?
Charlie Bushnell: One of my favorite parts about playing Bobby was that I had to learn how to play tennis. I had never really played before, but now it is one of my favorite sports. I’m no pro or anything, but I plan to keep playing!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Is there a specific moment from working on set of the show that sticks out to you the most?
Charlie Bushnell: I loved our weekly table reads so much. The whole cast would get together around a big table and read the upcoming episode. Another moment that I’ll never forget was when we wrapped season one. I’m not much of a crier, but I just started bawling. I wasn’t ready for it to be over!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Can you spill on any behind-the-scenes fun that happened while working on set of the show that fans may not know about?
Charlie Bushnell: I was never not having fun on set! We all became best-friends, so we were constantly just cracking each other up in between takes. Something you may not know though is that all of us kids in the cast hung out almost every day while we were filming, of course, but including the weekends when we were weren’t working. Did I mention that we became best-friends?
Alexisjoyvipaccess: There are so many wonderful lessons that this show brings out to viewers, such as the importance of being persistent in chasing after your dreams. What is the biggest takeaway you’d like viewers to get from watching the show?
Charlie Bushnell: I think it’s really important for kids and teens – everyone really – to see characters on TV who they can relate to, achieving great things. I hope our show will inspire anyone and everyone to follow their dreams, stand up for what’s right, and to be proud of who they are.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Diary of a Future President looks back at Elena’s time in middle school and how her journey led to her becoming the president. If you can give your younger self advice, what advice would that be?
Charlie Bushnell: This advice still applies now… stop procrastinating! I’ve definitely had a few school projects in the past (and recently) that I waited until the last minute to do, and it was not fun!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: To all the “future presidents” out there going after their passions, what advice would you give to them?
Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could guest-star on any other TV show, what show would it be?
Charlie Bushnell: Definitely Stranger Things! I love that show so much. If it weren’t for them, I might not be doing this interview!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Which actor / actress would you like to work with on a future project?
Charlie Bushnell: That’s a hard question! There are so many. Obviously, getting to work with everyone from Diary again is the dream. I’m still pinching myself that I got to work with such incredible actors. And, this may come as a surprise to you, but anyone from the Stranger Things cast… haha. There are so many people I would love to work with, though. It would be super fun to work with Robert Downey Jr.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
