Alexisjoyvipaccess: High Strung Free Dance was a massive hit as soon as it made its way to theaters. Can you tell us what the inspiration was behind creating this awesome film?
Michael Damian: It was born out of my love for music, having the great fortune of starring on Broadway and the number one hit record, Rock On, and my wife, Janeen’s love for dance. She danced with legends such as Michael Jackson and Prince. We wanted to make a film that would inspire and entertain in the same spirit of the first High Strung. In this new chapter, one of our lead characters is a virtuosic piano player (Harry Jarvis), and we introduced a third lead character, Zander Reigns, the brilliant and eccentric choreographer, played by (Thomas Doherty).
Alexisjoyvipaccess: What was the most rewarding thing for you directing High Strung Free Dance?
Michael Damian: I would say working with 80 of the most amazing dancers from around the world and the phenomenal actors and super talented production crew. It’s a great thrill and honor to be helming a project of this caliber.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Do you have a moment from working on / directing High Strung Free Dance that sticks out to you the most?
Michael Damian: The finale was the most memorable. It was creatively choreographed by Tyce Diorio and performed by the amazing Juliet Doherty, and of course, all the other fabulous dancers were glorious on the big stage.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: High Strung Free Dance brings out many inspiring messages, including the importance of following after your dreams. What is the biggest takeaway you’d like viewers to get after watching the film?
Michael Damian: Dream big and dance free… ;-) Well that’s true, but I would say if you truly want something in life, with enough hard work and perseverance, you have a shot at achieving it.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: We would love to see a third High Strung movie. If you could see anything happen in a third movie of the High Strung franchise, what would you like it to be?
Michael Damian: First of all, that would be phenomenal and a dream to make a third High Strung. My writing partner, Janeen and I have already discussed that and a possible story where that could head. It’s still in the development phase at this point, but I will keep you posted. Our first goal is to get everyone to see High Strung Free Dance and of course, the first HIGH STRUNG as well. :-)
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
Michael Damian: I would have to say, thank you so very much for supporting my acting career when I was on The Young and the Restless, and my music career ROCK ON!, coming to my concerts, and Broadway, when I played Joseph in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. You stayed with me supporting the films that I have been directing.
