“We live ‘Aloha.’ Aloha is how we treat ourselves, how we help others.” – Kimo, Finding ‘Ohana
With an incredibly heartwarming story, tons of adventure, a phenomenal cast and the breathtakingly beautiful scenery of Hawaii, it goes without saying that Netflix’s new, original movie, Finding ‘Ohana is a magnificent, must-see film! There is no doubt about it that the wonderful movie will definitely make its way to the number one spot of the “Top 10” Netflix charts worldwide. So, get ready for the ultimate treasure hunt as Finding ‘Ohana is a Netflix treasure to cherish.
Finding ‘Ohana follows two Brooklyn-raised siblings, Pilialoha “Pili” Kawena (played by Kea Peahu) and Ioane (portrayed by Alex Aiono) who are uprooted to rural O‘ahu, Hawaii to help their mom take care of their grandfather. Geocache champion Pili is just yearning for her next epic treasure hunt, and she gets exactly what she’s looking for when she comes across a journal in her grandfather’s studio that leads her to her next adventure – finding a 200-year-old shipwrecked treasure hidden in the island’s caves and mountains. Pili enlists her new friend, O’ahu local Casper (played by Owen Vaccaro) to join her on her exciting expedition, along with her brother and their new friend, Hana (portrayed by Lindsay Watson). Throughout this unforgettable adventure, Pili is able to get in touch with her Hawaiian roots and learn that the best treasure is ‘ohana – family.

This heartfelt movie is perfect for families to watch and enjoy together. All of the cast-members truly shine in their roles. One character we all especially love watching in the movie (and who makes a hilarious entrance when she’s first seen on our screens) is Hana, brought to life by the lovely and immensely talented Lindsay Watson. Sassy, strong, and always honoring her Hawaiian culture, Lindsay Watson’s ‘Hana’ brings so much awesome girl-power charisma to the film. Plus, we all can’t get over the amusing relationship and dynamic Hana has with “E” in the movie – *cue in the endless amount of laughter.*
The gorgeous Lindsay Watson brings her spectacular talent to our screens in such an effortless way. She is such a pleasure to watch and brings such grace, class, elegance and professionalism to every project she works on. Her role as Hana was extremely special for her as she was able to honor her Hawaiian culture and bring that great representation to households all over the world. A fun fact for viewers to know is that Watson’s grandmother lived only two minutes down the road from the Finding ‘Ohana set, so the brilliant actress described this movie as a real “full circle” moment for her.

Finding ‘Ohana is one of those films that you can watch over and over again and find a new gem each time. The team behind the film greatly valued authenticity in the movie and hired a Hawaiian consultant, a Geocache consultant, a Night Marcher consultant, and a Tattoo consultant to make every element of the story as real and genuine as possible. Netflix shared that “they had a traditional Hawaiian priest bless their sets and crews asking the spirits permission to film on location.”
Filled with touching moments and an innumerable amount of valuable life lessons, Finding ‘Ohana is a masterpiece of a film that shows that home truly is where ‘ohana is. And, this exceptional cast and crew created a marvelous ‘ohana of their own with a bond that can never be broken.
