Star Trek: Prodigy is an extraordinary addition to the Star Trek family. There are so many incredible aspects of the series that warrants the highest of praises. First off, the animation. One word = wow. After watching the show, viewers will certainly be mind-blown over the crystal clear, realistic animation. This show stands out from what we’ve seen in the popular franchise as the creative team went with a 3D style animation, and yes, it’s simply awe-inspiring.
Then, let’s talk about the story itself. It’s really admirable and quite amazing to see how creative geniuses like Dan and Kevin Hageman are able to create a new narrative within the iconic world of Star Trek – something that is so fresh, distinct, and special as a standalone, but also a show that honors what makes Star Trek such a legendary franchise. What’s really impressive is that the show was initially intended for a younger audience, but after watching the series, viewers will be able to agree that Star Trek: Prodigy truly bridges the gap between the generations who grew up watching the original Star Trek shows and new fans. It’s a series that people of all ages will be captivated by.

The episodes fly by as there is not a millisecond that goes by that isn’t jam-packed with high-energy escapades. And, what really makes a series is, of course, its characters. Star Trek: Prodigy is filled with some of the most lovable characters – whether it’s the leader of the pack, the courageous Dal, or the absolutely hilarious Jankom Pog (who’s always ready for a good argument!), or the adorable Rok-Tahk. The Hagemans and director Ben Hibon have created a series that makes us all want to run out and buy tons of stuffed animals and consumer products of these characters. Warning ⚠️: when you watch Star Trek: Prodigy you are bound to be obsessed with all of these terrific characters.
These characters wouldn’t have been brought to life if it weren’t for the talents and voices of the magnificent cast. Brett Gray (Dal), Rylee Alazraqui (Rok-Tahk), Jason Mantzoukas (Jankom Pog), Angus Imrie (Zero), Dee Bradley Baker (Murf), Ella Purnell (Gwyn), John Noble (Diviner), as well as Jason Alexander (Doctor Noum), Jameela Jamil (Ensign Asencia), Daveed Diggs (Commander Tysess), and Jimmi Simpson (Drednok) all share their remarkable talents in this superb series. Plus, Kate Mulgrew makes her much-anticipated return as Captain Janeway in the show.
The cast, creators Dan and Kevin Hageman, and director Ben Hibon went aboard the U.S.S. Protostar and had an exceptional time celebrating the premiere of Star Trek: Prodigy at a marvelous, special screening event which took place on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at The Lombardi House in Los Angeles, California. A show this phenomenal calls for an equally extravagant celebration, and that’s exactly what happened at the fantastic event. A terrific, champagne wall greeted guests upon arrival and not too far away was a table holding some of the most scrumptious and mouth-watering treats. Impossible burgers, tacos, donuts, and chocolate-covered strawberries galore, it was truly an out-of-this-world, galactic feast at the special screening.

Guests also enjoyed specialty cocktails, ice cream and “dragon’s breath” nitrogen-infused corn balls before heading into the screening room to watch the first episode.
“Love is all that Ben [Hibon], Dan [Hageman] and I have put in [to this show], along with the entire crew of people,” said Star Trek: Prodigy creator Kevin Hageman while discussing the series before the screening. “We love Star Trek. I love inspiring children.”

Kevin Hageman, Dan Hageman, and Ben Hibon’s mission was truly accomplished with this series. Kids (and their parents) will feel 150% inspired after watching this stupendous adventure.
