AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Congratulations on all of the brilliant success with your career. You kicked off your Acoustic Christmas Tour. What has it been like for you to be back on the road?
Maddie Poppe: Thank you! It’s been so much fun so far. I’m really looking forward to seeing supporters who may not have had a chance to see me since I was last on the road in 2019!
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: What are some of your tour must-haves?
Maddie Poppe: Throat coat tea is a must for me – both on stage and before the show! And, I also like to be comfy all the time, so I’m planning on packing my crocs and like 7 pairs of sweatpants.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: If you could describe the feeling you get performing for your fans in just one word, what word would that be?
Maddie Poppe: Meaningful
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: You continue to get everyone in the holiday spirit with your magnificent EP, Christmas From Home. Do you have a favorite song off of the EP?
Maddie Poppe: My favorite song to record on that EP was “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” I was really excited to create a different take on that song and it continues to be my favorite also to perform live.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Let’s take it back to your unforgettable journey on American Idol. What is something you have learnt about yourself as a musician through that stellar experience?
Maddie Poppe: I learned that it is so important to stay true to myself. There have been many twists and turns in the road as expected, but I found it would be so easy to stray away from who I am, so it’s important I keep my confidence and “stick to my guns” so to speak.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: If you could collaborate on a song with any other musician, who would it be?
Maddie Poppe: I’m not entirely sure which song I’d choose, but a few artists I would love to collaborate with would be Nate Ruess, Alec Benjamin, and John Mayer, just to name a few.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: You are such a talented songwriter. Do you have a favorite lyric you’ve written?
Maddie Poppe: Thank you! My favorite lyric of mine continues to be “how didn’t we know that one day we’d hate our bodies and we’d orbit around buttons on a phone” from my song “Don’t Ever Let Your Children Grow Up.” I find it rings truer and truer as time passes even though I wrote it six years ago.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: What are some other upcoming projects you are working on that fans can look forward to?
Maddie Poppe: I have a bunch of new music I’m so excited to share with everyone! These songs are some I’m very very proud of and I feel for once, can accurately depict me as an artist.
AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
Maddie Poppe: I’d like to say thank you for the support. Through thick and thin, no matter what. I know it’s been a crazy journey so far and so much has happened. And, even on my worst days, they still support me, so thank you.
