VIPAccessEXCLUSIVE: Country Music Band The Brethren Spills On What The Creative Process Was Like Making Their Three, New Singles In Their Interview With AlexisJoyVIPAccess!

The holiday season just got a whole lot better with not just one, not just two, but three, incredible songs from the rockin’ band, The Brethren! It goes without saying that the best gift to receive is new music from Nashville-based country band, The Brethren. The remarkable group is comprised of two sets of brothers and when Lonnie and Chad Chapin joined forces with Casey and Corey Parnell, nothing but true music magic was in store. All award-winning and wondrous musicians, the Chapin brothers and the Parnell brothers are a force to be reckoned with and an absolute dream team.

The music-making process is seamless and spectacular for The Brethren. From the electrifying, guitar chords and riffs, to lead singer Corey Parnell’s raw and extraordinary vocals, and the great storytelling in each of their songs, there is always some kind of special and awe-inspiring musical explosion that happens each and every time Chad, Lonnie, Casey, and Corey step foot in the studio.

The Brethren is ending off 2021 with a bang by releasing tons of new music. They kicked it off with their first single, “I Ain’t Got You,” a passionate song about how you can have everything, but when you’re not with the person you love, you don’t really have anything at all. A great burst of energy fills up the chorus and it’s hard not to belt out to this magnificent song. Not too long after, The Brethren surprised fans with more exceptional music to jam out to with the release of their second single, “Loving in the Moment.” A song with so much feeling, “Loving in the Moment” is a heartfelt tune that teaches us so much about love. And lastly, their third, terrific track released within three weeks is “Chevelle,” a brilliant song that makes you want to take a ride in a ‘69 Chevelle.

The Brethren’s music is authentic and is a perfect blend of rock ‘n roll meets country. It’s unique and is something that will captivate you with each lyric, every drumbeat, and all of the harmonious, chord progressions. Look out world, 2022 is bound to be The Brethren’s year!

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Congratulations on all of the sensational successes with your career! Can you first off tell us how The Brethren got together and formed the band we all know and love? 

The Brethren: Thank you! We’ve known each other since we were kids. Grew up in the same small town in Oregon, then we each spread our wings a bit and landed in Nashville, LA, with a few of us meeting up again back home. This formation has always been a dream for each of us, but we’ve been busy with other musical pursuits and projects. The pandemic slowed us down enough to be able to put some time into this band of brothers idea and it’s really taken off. 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Where do you get your inspiration for your phenomenal music? 

The Brethren: We are four preachers’ kids who weren’t allowed to listen to rock and roll growing up, raised on a steady diet of country and gospel music. Of course, we all secretly listened to, and became obsessed with, rock and roll, everything from Van Halen to Oasis. So, our music is this mash-up of the storytelling and strong melodic focus of country music with the energy and attitude of rock.  
 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: The Brethren is a band made up of two sets of brothers. So, what is it like for you guys getting to work on your passion with your sibling by your side? 

The Brethren: We truly love and respect one another, and see the unique contributions we all bring to the band, but it can certainly be hard to be so close in a creative endeavor. You don’t have as many filters up when it’s family, but that’s usually a good thing in our case. 

 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: The Brethren released three, new songs in a matter of three weeks and each one of them has left us all in awe. Can you dive in and tell us a little bit more about what the creative process was like making these songs? 

The Brethren: We wrote these songs (and about a dozen more) in a rehearsal studio in east Nashville over the course of about five days. We invited some songwriter friends along, set up the full band, and just went for it. Typical writer’s rounds are a bit more low key, but we were eager to just cut loose and jam, so that’s what we did. It worked out pretty well. 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Music has always been a big part of your lives. If there’s something you could tell yourself when you were just starting out in your music career, that you’ve learnt now throughout your journey, what piece of advice would that be? 

The Brethren: My peloton instructor always says, “Don’t half-ass it. Always use your whole ass.” I’d say that. Don’t wait for someone to validate you. Just own it. Put your whole self into your artistry, and if you can’t support yourself playing music, fine. Get a job. But view that job as a way to support your music, rather than letting it change your core purpose. 

 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: 2022 is bound to be an exciting year for The Brethren. What are some things that you all are working on that fans can look forward to? 

The Brethren: We’re working on releasing a five song EP later this winter and hopefully a full length record later in 2022. Live shows are in the works as well. We can’t wait to finally be able to perform these songs for the fans. 

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be? 

The Brethren: Wow… I guess I’d just say Thank You. From the heart. COVID continues to have a huge impact on the music industry and we are so grateful for the love and support we’ve received. We ain’t stoppin. :-)
