When we watch incredible films like House of Gucci, The Suicide Squad, Coming 2 America, and Being the Ricardos, to name a few, one thing we can’t help but be in awe by, in addition to the phenomenal acting, is, of course, the superb make-up and hair done for all of the stars of the film. Hair and makeup helps create a story of its own. Without the unmatched talents of the brilliant make-up artists and hair stylists on all of these films, TV shows, and commercials, the project truly wouldn’t be the same. And now, it’s time to celebrate these makeup and hair pioneers and the great magic they bring to our screens at the 9th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) Awards taking place on Saturday, Feb. 19 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The MUAHS Awards honors outstanding achievements for make-up artists and hair stylists in motion pictures, television, commercials, and live theater.
The full list of nominees for the wondrous event was recently announced, but before the upcoming, big day takes place, a special event was held on Dec. 16, 2021 to honor the phenomenal Lifetime Achievement Award nominees. The event was sponsored by Shiseido Makeup, Ardell Professional, and Schwarzkopf Professional. It goes without saying that respected cosmetics company, Shiseido has become a staple for every makeup look. Make-up artists, like the ones being honored at the MUAHS Awards, beauty influencers, and make-up enthusiasts alike can’t help but swear by Shiseido’s great products. 2022 Lifetime Achievement Recipient for Make-up, Michèle Burke, known for her stellar work in the Mission Impossible and Austin Powers series, and Joy Zapata, the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Recipient for Hair Styling, who has worked on A Star is Born, Wonder Woman 1984, and Star Trek: Nemesis, were both in attendance at the marvelous, celebratory event held at Capture Studios in Studio City, California. 2022 Lifetime Achievement Nominee for Make-up, Steve LaPorte, who worked on projects including Beetlejuice, LOST, and The X-Files, 2022 Vanguard Award Recipient, Christina Smith, who has shared her talent in numerous projects including Caberet, Schindler’s List, Steel Magnolias and Hook, and 2022 Lifetime Achievement Nominee for Hair Styling, Judy Cory, who has worked on projects including Forrest Gump, Misery, and The Matrix Revolutions, all had an excellent time at the soiree. In addition, Lifetime Achievement Committee Chair, Gail Ryan had a sensational time at the event spending time with these stupendous artists.
Guests at the MUAHS intimate party were treated to a fantastic photo-shoot by none other than celebrity photographer, Carlos Eric Lopez. Lopez has captured the smiles of renowned celebrities including John Legend, Kris Jenner, Vanessa and Natalia Bryant, and many more. Attendees were able to get their portraits taken in recognition of all of their wonderful achievements. Guests also enjoyed wonderful hor d’oeuvres and gifting by Shiseido, Ardell Professional, and Schwarzkopf Professional.
