“You’re playing with fire, Danny boy.” “… And I am gasoline.”
Sept. 9 couldn’t come soon enough with the highly-anticipated premiere of season five of Cobra Kai. The stakes are higher than ever and for Terry Silver, the only thing better than a full dojo, is a whole valley of full dojos. Netflix got Cobra Kai fans extra excited for what’s to come in the show by sharing a first look at the all new season. The streaming platform debuted the official teaser for season five at the Cobra Kai: Live and Badass event that took place on May 4 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Let’s just say, we need a moment to grasp all of the epicness that came before our eyes in the almost two-minute long clip.
“Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, season five finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help” (source: press release).

It’s hard not to get extremely pumped off of this teaser. There’s a lot going on – from LaRusso doing everything it takes to take down Terry Silver, to Johnny Lawrence and Robby Keene heading down to Mexico to find Miguel. Cobra Kai‘s impact is truly unmatched, and as what many of the fans had commented on the teaser debut on Netflix’s YouTube channel, the show continues to keep its great momentum with five seasons in, and there still is never a dull moment in sight.
Well, what better way to have shared the season five excitement than at the ultimate Cobra Kai extravaganza during Netflix is a Joke: The Festival. The Cobra Kai: Live and Badass event was the quintessential fan-fest. It featured exclusive conversations with the cast, live, musical performances, and many more surprises for Cobra Kai fans to relish in.

The event was attended by Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Dallas Dupree Young, Martin Kove, Gianni DeCenzo, Vanessa Rubio, Griffin Santopietro, Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, Bret Ernst, Dan Ahdoot, Jon Hurwitz, and Courtney Henggeler who all brought fans into the dojo for a fanfare like no other. Attendees were able to embrace their inner karate kid by wearing their own Cobra Kai-inspired costumes and cosplaying it up at the event.
