Her name is Lucy. She likes SpaghettiOs and long walks on the beach. But, what she doesn’t like doing is talking about her past. AMC’s Orphan Black: Echoes is a riveting sequel of the highly-acclaimed Orphan Black series. The show follows Lucy, played by profound actor Krysten Ritter, a sentient print-out woman who tries to live a “normal” life in 2052. The captivating, future-focused series is filled with action and will leave all viewers at the edge of their seats the entire time.

As Lucy attempts to piece together fragments of what she can remember, she finds herself in even greater trouble when her identity is uncovered. Lucy’s dangerous run-in with her past causes her, her boyfriend, and his child to move to a safer place in the city until things die down. But, that’s where Lucy encounters someone who looks oddly familiar to her…an exact copy printout, but 20 years younger.

AMC hosted an exclusive advanced screening of Orphan Black: Echoes on June 4 at The Edition in West Hollywood, California. Ritter and creator and executive producer Anna Fishko took part in a stimulating Q&A after a screening of the premiere episode and discussed the themes of family, motherhood, and female characters who overcome struggles in the show.

“I like the genre, I like this kind of show, but I also really love how relationship driven [the series] becomes,” said Ritter. “The women in the show have so many [scenes with] quiet, deep, meaningful connections, which is really fun.”

Ritter talked about wearing another hat in the series by taking on the role of executive producer. She said, “I’m somebody who kind of throws all in. I like to be a part of the conversations…I love the teamwork and the collaborative process. One of my favorite things to do is make a TV show with a group of people, and I’m lucky I get to do it.”
