“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Sony Pictures and Apple Films are taking us all back in time to the 60s during one of the most momentous moments in history—NASA’s Apollo 11 moon landing—in the highly-anticipated film, Fly Me to the Moon. As Moe Berkus (played by consummate actor Woody Harrelson) put it, public support for the moon mission was at rock bottom, but that soon changes when marketing powerhouse Kelly Jones (portrayed by the incomparable Scarlett Johansson) makes her way to Florida to shake things up within NASA. Although Jones ramps up interest and excitement for the moon landing, launch director Cole Davis (played by profound actor Channing Tatum) doesn’t quite see eye-to-eye with Jones’ revolutionary, marketing strategies. But, when the White House deems the mission as something that is too important to fail, Jones is put between a rock and a hard place when she is instructed to stage a fake moon landing as backup.
Fly Me to the Moon is two hours of a true cinematic masterpiece. From the genius script to the outstanding, all-star cast bringing this story to life, this movie is incredibly enjoyable to watch from start to finish. The costume design perfectly captures the 60s era, and the locations where the movie was filmed makes viewers feel like they were right there during this groundbreaking event. With a whole lot of laughs, tons of gush-worthy, romantic scenes, and many thrilling, edge-of-your-seat moments, Fly Me to the Moon is out of this world!
In addition to Tatum, Johansson, and Harrelson, the film also stars the unrivaled and stupendous Jim Rash, who plays the scene-stealing character of Lance, and the prolific Ray Romano.
