The multi-threat is known for her uplifting song, “Rise Up.” Whether you’re hearing Day perform the song live or listening to it featured in one of the countless amount of productions that has used this powerful track, this song will always leave you speechless and ready to take on the day.
Andra Day has proven that she can do it all by combining her passions for music and acting, as seen in her work in The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Day starred in the project as Billie Holiday and also shared her musical prowess for the film’s soundtrack, which garnered her a GRAMMY win for “Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media.” Day also won a Golden Globe for “Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama” for her brilliant work in the movie.
The stellar artist recently exhibited her unrivaled gift for acting in director Lee Daniels’ The Deliverance, alongside Glenn Close. Day did such an awe-inspiring job in this film and proved that she can take on any role and do it justice. She also recently starred in the movie, Exhibiting Forgiveness.
Anything that this consummate musician and actor works on is nothing short of magnificent. Andra Day is a true powerhouse and it’s clear to see why she is so admired and respected. In addition to being an absolute wonder, Day also happens to be one of the most down-to-earth and humble individuals, despite all of her outstanding achievements. Needless to say, Andra Day is a spectacular gift to this world and we are so grateful for her and her marvelous talent that she so gracefully shares with us all.
