Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, it’s time for some big news! 2025 is a milestone year for the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise as it marks 20 years since the action-packed series debuted on our screens. As the world of Avatar continues to grow, we are all thrilled to hear that there will be a new addition to the Avatar family.
Nickelodeon announced that an all-new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens, will be releasing and is being developed by creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. According to the press release, “Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation made the exciting announcement. Naito said, “For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally. We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.”
The geniuses behind the series, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, shared their excitement over Avatar: Seven Havens. They said, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. There’s even more excitement in the pipeline for Avatar fans. The highly-anticipated Untitled Animated Aang Avatar film will make its way to theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
