A fresh start at life comes from having the courage to forge new pathways. But, it’s not easy to do so, and that’s why it’s so important to have a strong support system by your side. Homeboy Industries is an admirable nonprofit that serves as that support system and beacon of hope for a countless amount of brave individuals seeking a new beginning. Founded by Father Gregory Boyle, Homeboy Industries is the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world.

On March 29, Homeboy Industries hosted its 23rd Annual Lo Máximo Awards and Fundraising Gala at the JW Marriott LA Live in Los Angeles, California.  The event was hosted by none other than the legendary Jane Fonda, who is a Homeboy Industries board member and a long-time, avid supporter of the organization. Celebrities including Camilla Belle and comedian Pete Holmes also attended the event to champion the incredible work the organization is doing. Guests at the event were also treated to a magnificent and moving performance by GRAMMY-nominated artist Aloe Blacc.

The event honored Homeboy Hero Hugo Gonzalez, Homegirl Hero Kanaka Luna-Jennings, and Community Honoree Thomas J. Vozzo for their inspiring work with the organization and for the terrific difference they’re making in their communities.

All proceeds raised from the Lo Máximo Awards and Fundraising Gala go directly to Homeboy Industries’ programs. The nonprofit welcomes nearly 8,000 people a year and provides life-changing services to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated adults and youth. Services range from job training to tattoo removal and substance abuse resources to help individuals know that they don’t have to do this alone. It’s truly awe-inspiring to see the groundbreaking work that Homeboy Industries is doing. The organization’s efforts not only give hope to those seeking to turn their lives around, but also help bring about healing and growth.
