She’s the lovely lady in the bottle, but Jeannie isn’t your average “three wishes only” kind of genie. In fact, she brings an endless amount of magic with her, and that holds true both on-screen and in real life for the marvelous actress who played her, Barbara Eden. Eden truly brought enchantment to our screens for five years, portraying the legendary role of Jeannie across 139 episodes. The result was not just a hit series, but a cultural phenomenon—spawning reunion movies, an animated series, and a pop culture icon that, to this day, many people still dress up as for Halloween.

Eden remains one of Hollywood’s most beloved treasures. Aside from I Dream of Jeannie, she is known for countless other standout roles, including appearing in the film, and later the TV series, Harper Valley P.T.A., serving as Elvis Presley’s leading lady in Flaming Star, as well as starring in projects such as Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, among many others. With over 90 credits to her name, Eden’s talent isn’t limited to the big and small screens. She is also a brilliant singer who headlined major hotel resorts and casinos.

A New York Times bestselling author for her memoir Jeannie Out of the Bottle, Eden’s impact spans every medium—from film and television to music, books, and beyond. The world truly is a better place because Barbara Eden is in it.
