Alexisjoyvipaccess: You are a marvelous actress. Can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?

Lisa Linke: Thank you! That is a very kind thing to say. I have always been a performer, being a child extrovert in a family of introverts will do that. I found improv and made that a huge part of my life. I kept feeling like I couldn’t see any other path where performing wasn’t the primary focus. After I quit consulting and became a full-time performer in Chicago, I just kept wanting to work more and more, so five years ago I moved out to LA and I’m so glad I did!

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You star in the hilarious Amazon Prime series, “Successful People.” What is the atmosphere like working on the show?

Lisa Linke: That show is so much fun! Artie O’Daly and Theresa Ryan, the creators, are so much fun on set and are very laid back. I was around for the first season in one episode and we had so much fun that they brought me back for the second season in more episodes – the same role, Kimberly Hawkes. That character is the most annoying woman on earth and I love her dearly — she’s the most fun to play! Working on a web series is super fun because it’s a smaller set usually, so you get to know everyone. I already knew the director/DP team, Ryan Lagod and Craig Tovey, and they are a blast to work with. They shot my web series “DOG MOMS” the year before. It felt like hanging out with old friends every day I was on set.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: We can’t get enough of all of the super funny moments from “Successful People.” What is your favorite episode from the series?

Lisa Linke: Oh my gosh, there are so many! My favorite episode is the one where I return in season two. My eyebrows are very extra in that episode and I kept making Artie laugh when we were on the couch. If you watch the extras & outtakes, I keep him cracking up time after time and it was so much fun. I also love the video shoot episode. I was wearing a buck wild jumpsuit and raspberry beret. Yes. I really was.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You also recently guest-starred in the hit Disney Channel show, Bunk’d. What was that experience like for you?

Lisa Linke: That was such a great week for me. It was my first guest star and we shot that last November, so I’ve been waiting for it to come out! It was a fun episode and I was in about half of it, which was a great experience. I had a stunt double, got dunked in water, had food all over me – a real introduction to kid’s comedy. I loved every second of it and I met so many cool people that week on set. Plus, I love performing in front of a live audience, so that was just the cherry on top.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You have worked on the Netflix series, “Love.” What was your favorite memory from working on the show?

Lisa Linke: This is a great trip down memory lane! I shot that last summer and it was so hot, but everyone was having so much fun. The crew on that show was just top notch and that set was really the nicest. The cast and the whole production were so great. I got to work with Kathy Baker, who is an amazing actress and a lot of fun to watch work. I got to do some scenes with her and chat with her about her career and her life in between takes. I’ve been so fortunate to work on so many great projects.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could work alongside any other actor or actress in a future project, who would you like it to be?

Lisa Linke: Oh, man. It would have to be someone who loves to improvise. Amy Schumer or Melissa McCarthy or Leslie Mann. All of those ladies love to improvise and it would be a dream to play with them on set!

Alexisjoyvipaccess: What would be your dream role to portray?

Lisa Linke: If there was some sort of bumbling, well-intentioned idiot… I kind of feel that I would knock that out of the park because people don’t expect that from me.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: What are some other upcoming projects that you’re working on that fans can stay tuned for?

Lisa Linke: Thank you! There are a few things that are exciting: I shot something for Hulu that I can’t talk about yet… but stay tuned! I just shot another episode of Teachers for their third season. “DOG MOMS” will be released on Amazon Prime September 1st! And, every Sunday on Instagram, people can join me live for #SuggestionSunday, my improv show that they can watch from anywhere! 12:30 PT / 3:30 ET.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?

Lisa Linke: Oooh, good one. Let’s see. It’s a tossup between: “Adopt, Don’t Shop” and “Recycle Everything You Can.” Both are important!

Check out our VIPAccessEXCLUSIVE interview below!

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You are a spectacular actress. Can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?

Amanda Troop: I saw Bernadette Peters in a recorded performance of “Into the Woods.” She played The Witch, and I immediately decided that I wanted to be The Witch when I grew up. Later, I realized that she was an actor, and not actually a witch. Acting didn’t really appeal to me until my mom put me in a musical theater class when I was 11. I remember getting on stage and turning to face the audience for the first time and suddenly feeling my stage fright melt away. After that, I was hooked!

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You also star in the show “Spouse Quest.” Tell us what it’s like working on that show.

Amanda Troop: My husband, Brandon Jones, is a co-founder of the company Easy Allies. The group is comprised of the former staff of Gametrailers (also co-founded by Brandon), and they do live streaming, reviews, previews, and content creation, all around video games. Brandon is a pro at console games, but I grew up playing on a computer, with an emphasis on the games created by Sierra. When I learned Brandon had never played any of the “Space Quest” games, I couldn’t believe it! It was his idea to live stream his first experience playing “Space Quest,” and “Spouse Quest” was a fun play on words with that title. Since then we’ve live streamed a number of games together, including the VR “Star Trek” game.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You have also worked on the series, “Fiasconauts” on the Easy Allies YouTube channel. Is there a moment that sticks out to you the most from working on the series?

Amanda Troop: Live streaming “Fiasco” is great because it combines gaming with improv. Ian Hink always manages to bring in fun people for “Fiasconauts,” and I love seeing the choices people make when they get to be storytellers.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: You also direct an all-female improv team called Ripley Improv. What is it like for you sharing your expertise as a director yet also being an improviser yourself?

Amanda Troop: We created Ripley Improv because we wanted to tell stories about women who save the day—whether that’s saving the world, saving their best friend, or simply saving themselves. Our first genre was “Dystopia,” based on YA Dystopia novels and films, and I directed that show. Dystopian fiction is a reflection of the world we live in, with the societal issues we currently face, heightened. It was a challenging and exciting experience helping the members of our team find ways of tapping into the mundane offers from the audience (we would usually get the suggestion “what’s an everyday object,” and start our shows based on things like “book,” “pen,” or “mirror”) and then using that object to find imagery and metaphors for the show, and to also illuminate the deeper problems of the Dystopian world we improvised together. YA Dystopia almost always has a heroine who overthrows the Dystopia (think Katniss from “Hunger Games”), and it was so satisfying to improvise a female led revolution once a week! Ripley has just launched its latest genre, “GLAM,” which is based on the Netflix show “GLOW,” and it’s directed by two other members of the group. Glitter and arm wrestling! A pretty big departure from “Dystopia,” and a lot of fun.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: Let’s also talk about the BAMF Girls Club. Do you have a favorite episode that you’ve worked on from the series?

Amanda Troop: I loved playing Hermione Granger on “BAMF Girls.” As a huge “Harry Potter” fan, it was a delight to get to be Hermione for a while. My favorite episode is episode 7, when Willow from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” comes to the house, and she and Hermione get to do magic together.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: What would be your dream role to portray?

Amanda Troop: Something that combines magic and comedy—tell a joke, cast a spell, then fly away on a unicorn. That kind of thing. I’d love to be on a show like “The Magicians,” or any “Star Trek” show.

What are some other upcoming projects that you’re working on that fans can stay tuned for?

Amanda Troop: We’ve been in the booth recording “Box Peek,” a new animated show that’s going to be on Easy Allies. I play the lead and a bunch of other characters. This week I finished recording 3 out of 6 or 7 characters I play. I can’t wait until the show starts to air, so I can talk more freely about it! I also have another animated project coming out next year, and a part in a new TV series.

Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?

Amanda Troop: It can be hard to live in a time where every time we go to our computers or phones, we see updates from friends who seem to be doing so much better than us. It’s tough not to feel down, or excluded. But who you are is already great, and we have to remember that our online lives are only a small window into our complete selves. You are already whole, and exactly who you are supposed to be.
