HALO – Helping And Leading Others. Every day we should all aspire to HALO, because no matter how small or large the gesture is, we all can help make the world a better place. From recycling, to volunteering, to donating, to even saying hello to someone or giving them a compliment, every nice gesture can help and lead others. Nickelodeon, known for all of its masterpieces, from its shows to its award shows and more, is inspiring us all to HALO with another year of its spectacular and magical HALO Awards. On November 14, 2015, Nickelodeon taped its marvelous HALO Awards, which will be airing on November 29, 2015 at 7:00 PM ET / PT on Nickelodeon and all Nickelodeon channels including TeenNick, Nicktoons, TV Land, CMT, Nick.com and the Nick App.
The Nickelodeon HALO Awards was truly one unforgettable and epic night. The HALO Awards honored four teens who have done above and beyond to “HALO” and help make the world a better place. This year’s HALO Awards honorees are Ethan Cruikshank, Riley Gantt, Joshua Williams, and Ruchita Zaparde. The HALO Awards honorees are truly so admirable and inspiring and influence us all to continue to HALO and do good for our community and others.
Worldwide phenomenon, Justin Bieber was also present at the spectacular HALO Awards to be the first ever HALO Hall of Fame Award recipient. According to the press release, “Bieber will be presented with the first-ever HALO Hall of Fame Award, an honor given to a celebrity who helps and leads others by making the world a better place, in recognition of his outstanding charitable work with Make-A-Wish®and Pencils of Promise. Bieber’s involvement with Make-A-Wish–the global organization which grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions–has been longstanding. Since 2009, he has granted a wish at nearly every tour stop where he visits with wish kids and their families, takes photographs and signs autographs before they attend his concert. Over the last six years, he has granted more than 250 wishes for his fans. In addition, Bieber is a big supporter of Pencils of Promise, which works to build schools and increase educational opportunities in the developing world. ” The extraordinary Justin Bieber even took a moment of silence for the victims of the recent tragedy in Paris. Justin Bieber truly deserved this amazing award.
The outstanding HALO Awards had everyone up on their feet dancing the night away and singing along to all their favorite songs that were sung live by sensational performers including Fifth Harmony, Flo Rida, Tori Kelly, DNCE with Joe Jonas and a performance by Walk The Moon which was taped in Orlando. Fifth Harmony rocked the stage with their girl-power charisma and sung their hit song, “Worth It” while DNCE with Joe Jonas performed their awesome, hit, super-catchy song, “Cake By The Ocean”. Tori Kelly left everyone in awe with her great performance of “Should’ve Been Us” and Flo Rida had everyone dancing with his melody of hit songs. Walk The Moon’s taped performance in Orlando featured their songs “Shut Up And Dance With Me” and “Different Colors”, which was absolutely amazing! Needless to say, the HALO Awards performances was absolutely mesmerizing!
Many of your favorite celebrities were in attendance and showed their support for the fantastic HALO Awards. The “Talia In The Kitchen” cast including Maria Quezada, Gail Soltys, Ellis Ann Jackson, Joshua Hoffman and Liam Obergfoll, “100 Things To Do Before High School” star Isabela Moner, “Bella and The Bulldogs” stars Brec Bassinger and Coy Stewart, “Every Witch Way” star Rahart Adams, “W.I.T.s Academy” star Daniela Nieves, Julia Antonelli and Timothy Colombos, “Make It Pop” stars Dale Whibley, Louriza Tronco, Erika Tham, and Megan Lee, and “Instant Mom” star Sydney Park were all in attendance at the event. Also, Paige and Brooke Hyland, Tiffany Alvord, Tyla Wolfe, and Megan Nicole showed their support at the event and had a blast. Some of your favorite Nickelodeon stars even took part in some show activities to help raise money for the HALO recipients’ organizations.
After the remarkable taping of the award show, Nickelodeon kicked off a sensational after-party which included so many fun activities. From creating your own “I HALO By” shirt, to dancing, to eating some delicious foods ranging from sushi, tacos, pizza and more, Nickelodeon truly knows how to host one epic award show and after-party!

- Ethan Cruikshank, 16, Mechanicsville, Va. ‐ A guitar player since the age of seven, Ethan Cruikshank was inspired to start Music to My Ears after his school cut music education funding. Since then, Cruikshank’s music program has helped over 100 kids across four states by providing free music lessons through volunteer teachers and distributing instruments to those who can’t afford them.
- Riley Gantt, 15, Sherman Oaks, Calif. – Riley Gantt’s organization Rainbow Pack was born out of her desire to provide kids with the supplies they need to do their homework and be successful learners, regardless of their economic circumstances. With funds raised through fundraising, grants, social media and school supply drives, she has successfully donated over 9000 backpacks filled with school supplies to kids in the Los Angeles area.
- Joshua Williams, 14, Miami Beach, Fla. – Joshua Williams’ commitment to eradicate hunger started with a roadside donation to a starving man when he was four and a half years old. Through William’s organization, Joshua’s Heart Foundation, he designed a food distribution system in local churches, schools and community centers, and continues to raise awareness of hunger and poverty at speaking engagements. He has distributed over 1.1 million pounds of food in South Florida, Jamaica and Africa to date, and helped feed over 50,000 people nationwide.
- Ruchita Zaparde, 18, Plainsboro, N.J. ‐ After a family trip to India exposed Ruchita Zaparde to the plight of widows and the difficulties they faced, she started Sew A Future to help those women achieve financial stability by becoming seamstresses. Zaparde identifies widows in need in India, delivers sewing machines and supplies, and connects the kids who are fundraising in the U.S. to the recipients. Over 200 families have been raised out of poverty with the gift of a sewing machine, thanks to the fundraising efforts of over 1400 students in 30 states.
