When we found out that one of our favorite musicals ever will be coming live to NBC, we all couldn’t contain our excitement, and we totally bought ourselves a can of hairspray to get our hair ready. To add on even more excitement, we found out that NBC’s Hairspray Live! will have an all-star cast including Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth, Derek Hough, Martin Short, Harvey Fierstein and newcomer Maddie Baillio, who will play Tracy Turnblad.
Now, we have even more awe-inspiring and spectacular excitement as it has just recently been announced that the stupendous Dove Cameron and the sensational Garrett Clayton will be joining the cast as Amber Von Tussle and Link Larkin, respectively.
It’s clear to see that Dove Cameron and Garrett Clayton are an absolute perfect fit for Hairspray Live! and we wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to play their roles. They both are so magnificently talented in both acting and singing and we can’t wait to see them create a masterpiece in Hairspray Live!
Deadline.com announced the marvelous news and described the live production as follows, “Hairspray Live! takes place in 1962 Baltimore, where teenager Tracy Turnblad (Baillio) dream of dancing on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV program. When, against all odds, Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters.” Hairspray Live! is set to air on December 7th.
