Passion, hard work, skills, determination and knowing how to be a team player, those are just some of the many things that make an accomplished and incredible athlete. Nickelodeon’s outstanding Kids’ Choice Sports is the only award show that brings together tons of the greatest sports stars on this planet along with super fun challenges and a whole lot of slime while leaving the power in the hands of all of the KIDS to vote for their favorite sports moments and athletes from this year. Needless to say, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports brings all the excitement and a tremendous amount of energy making it one of the best award shows EVER!

It’s that exciting time of the year again and the Kids’ Choice Sports made its way back to Los Angeles, California for a memorable night of sports-mania! This year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports filmed at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on July 19, 2018 and will air tonight, July 20th at 8:00 PM ET / PT on Nickelodeon. Houston Rockets’ point guard and former NBA All-Star MVP Chris Paul was the host with the most for this magnificent event. He brought his awesome skills both on and off the court to the award show and he definitely put a big smile on everyone’s face being one terrific host that can’t be beat.

It’s hard not to get star-struck with all of the iconic sports celebs that made their way onto the orange carpet at this year’s Kids’ Choice Sports. The most decorated Olympian of all time, none other than Michael Phelps (who was last year’s winner of the Legend Award at the Kids’ Choice Sports) returned this year with his lovely wife and son, Boomer and he joined in on an exciting challenge during the award show. Other excellent sports stars who attended the event included Michael Strahan, Shaun White, Ronda Rousey, Lindsey Vonn, Russell Wilson, P.K. Subban, Travis Kelce, Chloe Kim, Alex Morgan, Antonio Brown, Alex and Maia Shibutani, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Mikaela Shiffrin and many others. It was one athlete-studded event where everyone will be fan-girling and fan-boying to the max when they spot their fave sports sensations.

In addition, the cast of Nickelodeon’s Knight Squad: Lilimar, Owen Joyner, Daniella Perkins and Amarr Wooten were in attendance at the event and had a blast joining the award show. JoJo Siwa brought her fun-loving and bubbly personality to the event as well. Liza Koshy and Marc Summers of Nickelodeon’s reboot of Double Dare were also a part of the exceptional award show and had a great time judging who won the iconic Double Dare obstacle course challenge – Kids’ Choice Sports host Chris Paul or Olympic legend, Michael Phelps.

The award show was jam-packed with four, jaw-dropping and adrenaline-filled challenges. These fantastic, sports-themed challenges really makes the Kids’ Choice Sports stand out as one marvelous event with a non-stop amount of fun, fun, fun!

Here’s a look at the challenges that went down at the Kids’ Choice Sports (source: press release):

  • In the Michael Strahan-hosted Shake N’ Break challenge, P.K. Subban, Mikaela Shiffrin, Ibtihaj Muhammad and P.J. Tucker gave the classic Musical Chairs dance game a sporty twist, dancing popular viral dances in the Shake Zone and breaking funny and messy items in the Break Zone, ending with a race through a sneaker box wall to be the first to hit the buzzer and win the chance to present the first award.

  • The JoJo Siwa-hosted Battle Carts Royale challenge tested the throwing accuracy of Winter Olympics medalists Shaun White, Chloe Kim, Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani as teams of two raced against each other in shopping carts, tossing out t-shirts to the audience in a race to hit a final target and trigger the dunking of their Nickelodeon Knight Squad teammate into a tank holding 1500 gallons of slime.

  • In the Slime Dunk challenge, two real kid superfans got the opportunity to shoot free throws in a one-on-one challenge, for the chance to dunk their basketball idols, Candace Parker and Isaiah Thomas, into six-foot-high slime-filled dunk tanks!

  • And to celebrate the return of Double Dare, Liza Koshy and Marc Summers brought the iconic Double Dare obstacle course to the Kids’ Choice Sports. In a special end-of-show moment, host Chris Paul fulfilled a childhood fantasy, running the super-sized and super messy course in a head-to-head showdown against the most decorated Olympian in history, Michael Phelps.

One of the many highlights from the stellar night was the stupendous Danica Patrick being honored with the prestigious Legend Award at the event. The best way to describe the admirable Danica Patrick is being an absolute legend and she was honored for her brilliant sportsmanship and how much she has inspired a countless amount of people to go after their dreams too. Upon receiving her award and giving a motivating acceptance speech, Danica Patrick was doused in tons of honorary gold slime.
