It was a dazzling and stellar time in Hollywood and a night to remember in Latin music history as the renowned and prestigious Latin American Music Awards took place on October 25, 2018 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The red carpet was rolled out as some of the biggest musicians and trailblazers in the Latin music industry gathered together to celebrate one spectacular night. It goes without saying that the Latin AMAs managed to surpass everyone’s expectations by making this year’s award show even bigger and better than years before. From having not just one but five, terrific hosts for the event to a countless amount of awe-inspiring performances, the fourth annual Latin American Music Awards was indeed… legendary.
Presented by Telemundo, the Latin American Music Awards kicked off with a one-hour red carpet pre-show, “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs,” where celebrities showcased their breathtakingly beautiful and dandy attires. Celebs continued to make their way on over to the red carpet to pose for photographers and enter inside the Dolby Theatre for the show to begin.
Unlike any other award show, the Latin AMAs performed an unprecedented move by having five, female music powerhouses host this year’s event. Leslie Grace, Becky G, Gloria Trevi, Roselyn Sanchez and Aracely Arambula all looked so flawless as they took on the stage as emcees for the Latin American Music Awards. They inspired all viewers and showed how with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. These lovely ladies are some of the many examples of strong, admirable and influential women who have and continue to make a big impact in the music world. This year’s Latin AMAs emphasized the importance of Latinas’ contribution in music.
Many coveted awards were given to an endless amount of incredibly talented musicians that night. Daddy Yankee was honored with the Icon Award at the event.
Daddy Yankee shared his excitement over receiving the Icon Award at the event in a photo he posted on his Instagram account. Respetando a mi familia, a mi esposa, mis hijos. Respetando mi trabajo. Respetando a mis colegas. Respetando a todos los fans. Amando a mi país Puerto Rico y a todos los países que nos abren las puertas. En casi 3 décadas de carrera nunca les he fallado, saben ¿por qué? Porque en el barrio siempre soñé con este día, llegar a ser un ÍCONO.” He stressed how important it is to respect his family, his colleagues and all of his fans and that is what has helped him to become an icon.
Daddy Yankee’s music has and continues to bring joy to people all over the globe. No matter what language you speak, Daddy Yankee’s music speaks to us all by touching everyone’s heart and soul in more ways than imaginable.
Music sensation Maluma was honored with the Extraordinary Evolution Award at the event. It’s clear to see that Maluma’s success continues to skyrocket as the milliseconds go by. Fans can’t help but swoon over everything that the phenomenal Maluma does. In addition, Maluma also left fans on cloud 9 with his superb performance at the event.
Maluma shared the photo as seen below on his Instagram account and wrote, “Ver este premio me recuerda todos los sacrificios que he hecho por estar donde estoy. Dios bendiga la música y a los soñadores que creen que nada es IMPOSIBLE 🏆.” He talked about how this award reminds him of all of the sacrifices he has made to get to where he is today.
Boy band phenomenon CNCO won big at the event and was awarded with three out of the three awards they were nominated for. It’s obvious that CNCO has made their mark and has established themselves as household names.
CNCO tweeted:
The Latin American Music Awards was filled with a ton of remarkable and memorable performances. Musician Nacho had everyone up on their feet singing along as he performed at the event. Nacho also won the award for “Canción Favorita Tropical / Favorite Tropical Song.”
In addition, Prince Royce also gave an exceptional performance at the event with Pitbull and Ludacris. Pitbull then continued to take over the stage as he gave an extraordinary performance of his viral song, “Dame Tu Cosita” that everyone was jamming out to.
Host Becky G and Joss Favela performed their hit song “Pienso En Ti.” This definitely has to be one of our favorite collaborations from this year! Becky G also won the awards for “Artista Favorita – Femenina / Favorite Artist – Female” and “Canción Favorita – Urbano / Favorite Song – Urban” for her song “Mayores” featuring Bad Bunny.
Anitta also looked fierce and fabulous as she performed at the Latin AMAs. She also took home the award for “Video Favorito / Favorite Video” for her song “Medicina.”
Aside from all of the amazing performances, the star-studded Latin AMAs also had many fantastic celebrities who presented at the event including Amaury Nolasco, Adriel Favela, Ana Lorena Sanchez, Ana Lucia Dominguez, Angelica Celaya, Carlos Ponce, Christian Acosta, Claudia Vergara, Cynthia Olavarria, Danny Pino, Dra.
