Every year, VidCon brings together a countless amount of magnificent, online-video creators and thousands of fans for engaging and fantastic, panel discussions, meet-and-greets, exciting events and unforgettable moments. This year, as a result of COVID-19, Vidcon has gone virtual with a summer-long experience called VidCon Now. Today, June 27th marks a very special day because VidCon Now’s first community tentpole event, “VidCon Now Proud Together” will be taking place. The extraordinary event, hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race fan-favorite star Mayhem Miller and The Try Guys’ Eugene Lee Yang, will honor Pride and the Black Lives Matter movement through a night of music, education, entertainment, fundraising, and more.
The terrific event will stream live on VidCon’s YouTube channel today at 4pm PT / 7pm ET and will feature moving tributes, incredible, musical performances, challenges and more. Brilliant creators including AmbersCloset, Jensen McRae, James Charles, poet and activist Amanda Gorman, Kingsley, Calle y Poché, Gigi Gorgeous, Rebecca Black, dancer Fabricio Seraphin, Ashley Strong, and Sam Tsui will be joining the wonderful event.
Although VidCon will not be held in person this year, “VidCon Now Proud Together” will continue to bring that sense of community, diversity and unity that the online-convention values each and every year.
According to the press release, “AmbersCloset will open the show, discussing the societal impact of the Black Lives Matter movement and why it is more important than ever to come together and support each other. The opening will be followed by musical and dance performances, as well as additional informative and entertaining segments.”
Not only will the event celebrate exceptional creators and their fans, but it will also benefit an impactful cause. Throughout tonight’s event, attendees can donate to the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, which posts bail to secure the safety and liberty of individuals in U.S. jails and immigration facilities.
