What can you do in eight and a half minutes? Well, you can watch a thrilling and adrenaline-packed episode of Quibi’s much-anticipated series, The Fugitive. The first three episodes of The Fugitive, starring consummate actor Kiefer Sutherland and prolific actor Boyd Holbrook, released on August 3rd on the short-form, streaming platform. Viewers will instantly find themselves completely engrossed in this series. There’s an immense amount of action in every scene and cliffhangers that will leave you wanting more.

The Fugitive follows “Mike Ferro (played by Boyd Holbrook), an innocent man on the run, desperate to clear his name. Clay Bryce (portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland) is the determined cop trying to track him down. Let the chase begin” (source: Quibi). During a live Q&A conversation that took place between the cast, executive producer and writer Nick Santora and director Stephen Hopkins, Santora discussed how the show is a completely different take and storyline compared to the 1993 action / thriller film of the same name.

With Quibi’s unique format of its content being under 10 minutes in length, the storytelling of The Fugitive was really able to flourish. Nowadays with social media, attention spans have shortened, but with The Fugitive‘s around eight and a half minute-long episodes, viewers will be absolutely entertained and completely enthralled every minute of the show.

Writer Nick Santora and director Stephen Hopkins did a stupendous job creating jaw-dropping episodes that will have you like this: 😱. The Fugitive brings together the indescribable, acting talents of Sutherland, Holbrook, Tiya Sircar, Genesis Rodriguez, and Natalie Martinez, who all did a show-stopping job in the series. The cast, crew and creative minds of Santora and Hopkins truly make an absolute dream team and they created a show that viewers will undoubtedly call their “new favorite series.”

Aside from all of the moments that will make viewers say “wow,” another standout part about the show is how much it touches on relevant topics to today’s day and age. Within the first couple of episodes, we see an eager reporter who yearns to be the first to break the news of the terrorist attack that happened in the subway, only to tweet and name a suspect, Mike Ferro, who is innocent and had no relation to the cause of the tragic incident. The topics addressed in the show clearly resemble what is happening in today’s world – how social media distributes news and information within milliseconds and how that makes us all question whether information being disseminated that fast really is such a good thing.

The cast of the remarkable series, Nick Santora and Stephen Hopkins all took part in a special Q&A discussion moderated by film critic, Scott Mantz as a part of The Fugitive‘s virtual premiere event that took place on August 3, 2020. Holbrook talked about how much he had to run while filming the series and jokingly stated that writer Nick Santora had to send him over new shoes because of it. Not only are the great gifts of the actors and actresses in the show truly mesmerizing, but seeing the camaraderie, respect and admiration they have for working with each other and working on such a masterpiece of a series is something to admire about this cast. The Fugitive team managed to film the series in just 25 days – an incredible feat for creating a show that is of a blockbuster film calibre and Santora admitted to writing the show in just a whopping seven days. True passion for this project oozes out of everyone involved and they should be proud of the brilliance they have brought to this magnificent show.

Alexisjoyvipaccess had an excellent time attending the virtual premiere of The Fugitive and I can honestly say this is one show that I didn’t want to end. As every eight minute-long episode came to a close, I couldn’t click “next episode” any faster as I was at the edge of my seat wondering what was yet to come. For those who have Quibi, The Fugitive is the show you’ve been waiting for (and should definitely be at the top of your “watch” list).
