With several, fan-favorite songs under his belt, there’s no doubt about it that Koda has a very promising career in the music world.

For Koda, music has always been a very big part of his life. In our exclusive interview, the extraordinary musician said, “I grew up around music always. Three of my family members were music teachers, and musicians themselves, so it was something I was constantly around. My parents loved two very different styles of music, and that difference in exposure definitely had a big effect on me as well. Overall, I grew up seeing how happy music made people. Especially, how happy it always made me. I knew from a very young age that because music made me and countless others so happy, it was what I wanted to spend the vast majority of my time on.”

It’s clear to see that Dave Koda has already made a great impact on so many people through his music. He has released several songs including his single, “Bonfire,” which has over 70,000 streams (and counting) and he collaborated with producer Nohidea on the song, “Sixteen.”

Koda’s music is one word: phenomenal. He is a true hit-making machine. Each of his songs have their own kind of energy. Koda has many different artists that he draws inspiration from, which explains why each one of his songs have their own feeling and sound.

“I’ve had some pretty all-over-the-place music phases in my life, and with that came many different artists that I’ve been inspired by,” said Koda. “My top artists, hands down, are Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Mary J. Blige, and I can go on for hours, so let me stop. Some other artists I’ve taken influence from have been Dominic Fike, Tyler the Creator, SZA, Van Halen, Clairo, Kendrick Lamar, and Dom Mclean. Once again, I can go on for hours about different artists I’ve loved, but these are just a few.”

One thing is for sure, you will always find yourself hitting the “replay” button when you’re listening to this gifted musician’s songs. “Bonfire” is the kind of calming song you’d like to enjoy during a day at the beach or while cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway. “Same Damn Love” will certainly make your heart do jumping jacks. And, “Let Go” has an electrifying guitar sound that accompanies Koda’s brilliant and harmonious vocals.

“‘Let Go‘ was one of my first songs I wrote when I was transitioning genres,” said the singer / songwriter. “I was mainly making hip-hop music from the age of 15 until I was 21. The main idea of the song is based on letting go of the old things that hold you back, so you can be happy with the new things life has to offer. I was experiencing a lot of that at the time, working a job I didn’t like, in a city I didn’t want to be in. When I heard the beat, that little chorus line “now baby I can’t let go” just started sounding off in my head. The main idea, and rest of the song, all sort of poured out of that one line from then on.”

Koda has a lot more excitement up his sleeves including a much-anticipated song titled, “Jenny,” which is his own creative take on retelling the story of Forrest Gump.

“‘Jenny’ is my literal child and that song means the absolute world to me,” said the magnificent artist. “It is, hands down, my favorite piece of art I’ve ever created. I first wrote a version of “Jenny” when I was on a vacation in New Orleans with my dad. I had time to kill in the hotel, and a lot on my mind, so I started writing down notes in my journal. My girlfriend and I had been on and off for years before we started to actually date, and we always just seemed to keep coming back to each other. Forrest Gump has always been one of my favorite movies, but I always thought Jenny was the one who ran the most in the story. Not Forrest, as everyone perceives. I somewhat related their love story to mine, and next thing I knew I was writing a full-on love song about Forrest Gump. I ended up rewriting it a couple times when I finally found the music I wanted to use for it. I’m not sure when I’m going to release it right now. It was originally slated for September 25th, but with COVID still a massive thing going on, I feel uneasy about releasing it.”

The sky truly is the limit for Dave Koda and the successes will undoubtedly continue to keep rolling in for him. The remarkable musician has a lot more in store to share with his fans. He said, “Definitely stay tuned for “Jenny.” I think that song has the potential to be my most popular song ever. I hope to release that late 2020 or early 2021. I have a song called “Snooze” that’s coming out October 25th, and I might sneak another release in before that if I’m feeling wild. I have an EP that’s been finished, and an EP that I’m working on that will be set for release in early 2021. Finally, I hope to have a tour set up in 2021, given a decline in COVID cases. I wanted to take this time to say thank you for interviewing me and giving me an opportunity to talk about my passion. I hope whoever reads this checks out my music, and if ya like it, reach out to me and tell me why.”
