Grab a glass of vino, some Italian cookies and a cannoli or two as it’s time to make your escape to the breathtaking town of Acerenza, Italy in the extraordinary film, From the Vine. A heartfelt, feel-good story coupled with the picturesque scenery of Italy, From the Vine is a superb movie that will have you smiling from ear to ear the entire time.
The film, directed by Sean Cisterna, follows Mark Gentile, an attorney and automotive company executive who comes across an ethical dilemma at work. This occurrence turned out to be the perfect springboard for Mark (played by the terrific and renowned actor, Joe Pantoliano) to pack his bags and purchase a one-way ticket to Italy to visit the small village of Acerenza, where he grew up. But, to his surprise, he finds his late grandfather’s vineyard dilapidated and in need of some help. His help. He gathers the townspeople and loyal citizens of the village to work together and revive the vineyard. It’s during this time where Mark finds his true meaning and purpose – to help bring life back to the property and produce wine again. Believing his “vacation” has gone on for far too long, Mark’s wife and daughter, Laura visit him in Italy, but they see that Mark’s efforts are actually something that can leave an everlasting impact for the people of Acerenza.
Samuel Goldwyn Films‘ From the Vine is 94 minutes of pure enjoyment. The movie has a perfect balance of sincerity and humor, which makes it such a pleasure to watch. From the hilarious moments between Mark and his long-lost, childhood friend / right-hand man and police-officer, Luca to the fantastical scenes where the vineyard vines are literally talking to (and about) Mark, the movie is filled with a never-ending amount of excitement that makes it move oh, so swiftly.
This wonderful flick showcases a strong sense of community. Viewers get to see how the villagers join together and the camaraderie they have with one another and with the movie’s leading man, Mark. Every cast-member leaves a powerful impact and is a great asset to the film, without forgetting to mention, of course, the town’s oddball Enzo, who brings even more laughs and quirky moments to the movie.
Through Mark’s hard work to bring back the beauty of his grandfather’s vineyard, he also brings his estranged family back together. A new start and an unforgettable and delightful journey is exactly what they all needed.
Alexisjoyvipaccess was honored to receive a marvelous, hand-delivered wine tasting kit to celebrate the release of From the Vine. What a magnificent way to relish this film with a wine tasting kit from San Francisco’s Voluptuary Wine Vineyards that included Chardonnay, Rosé, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Red Blend with an adorable card to rate each of the tasty wines. The exceptional premiere gift also included delectable Italian cookies from Minivoglie and Biscolata chocolates. The tasty treats were definitely the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae… or shall I say… GELATO, and made it feel like such a phenomenal trip to Italy while watching the motion picture.
