She’s the amazing, shining star we all truly can’t get enough of – she’s the wonderful Jordyn Curet! Fans have been captivated by the lovely Jordyn Curet’s talent in Home Economics, where she plays the lovable role of Shamiah, the on-screen daughter of Sarah (played by Caitlin McGee) and Denise (portrayed by Sasheer Zamata). Alexisjoyvipaccess: Congratulations on all of the phenomenal success with your career – we all love seeing you in all of your terrific projects! Can you first tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?
Jordyn Curet: Thank you very much! I am very grateful for every opportunity. I have always enjoyed performing and found myself inspired by so many actors. Once I started training and understanding the craft more, it just became very natural to me.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: You star as Shamiah in the hit ABC series, Home Economics. What is it like for you working on this fantastic series and working alongside magnificent actors including Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Sasheer Zamata, Karla Souza and Jimmy Tatro?
Jordyn Curet: Playing Shamiah on Home Economics is such an incredible experience. It’s like playing on an all-star team, each inspire me in a different way and learning from them daily is definitely remarkable. Besides being extremely talented, they all are so genuine and super funny! It’s the best :)
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Do you have a favorite episode you’ve worked on from the series?
Jordyn Curet: I would probably have to say episode two, where my two moms and I were binge-watching a wedding reality show and we had several moments around the topic. It was such a fun scene – if you haven’t seen it, you can stream it on Hulu.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Is there a moment from working on the show that sticks out to you the most?
Jordyn Curet: It would have to be the karaoke scenes and dance party we had. We had a blast filming it!
Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could see anything happen to your character in future episodes of Home Economics, what would you like to see?
Jordyn Curet: Shamiah is very socially-conscious and wishes to make the world a better place for all. I would like to see Shamiah involved in some community event or with a group of girls to bring awareness on a current social topic. I really see Shamiah in so many possibilities. I love playing her.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: You also worked on the fan-favorite Disney Channel series, Raven’s Home. What was that experience like for you working on this wonderful series (one that you even won a Young Entertainer Award for!)?
Jordyn Curet: Thank you! Yes, playing Alexandra on Raven’s Home was such a great experience. It was such an honor to have Raven herself direct one of the episodes. She is such a talented actress, and then to watch her direct as well was so inspiring.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could work alongside any other actor in a future project, who would you like it to be?
Jordyn Curet: Hands down that would be Zendaya. I am so inspired by her in so many ways.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: One of the many things we all love about you is your incredible fashion sense. What would be your number one fashion advice you’d like to give out to fans?
Jordyn Curet: I love fashion. I would have to say – wear what makes you feel good! Let your personality shine through your fashion.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: What would be your dream role to portray?
Jordyn Curet: I would really like to appear in a drama movie. I love comedy and that comes so natural to me, but I would love to show my emotional side as well in a drama.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
Jordyn Curet: Life is too short to not do what you love. You are never too young to fulfill your dreams!
