Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel is, undoubtedly, one of the greatest (unofficial) wonders of the world. To have created such a grand and awe-inspiring masterpiece, comprising of several, renowned pieces such as The Creation of Adam, The Last Judgment, and many more astounding fresco paintings, is a feat that can’t ever be undermined and is something that has made Michelangelo known to be a true mastermind. Visitors near and far flock to the Sistine Chapel to see this breathtakingly beautiful and extravagant work of art. One of the most special parts about the Sistine Chapel is how it brings people from all different kinds of backgrounds together. No matter where you are from or what religion you follow, everyone who gets the once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the Sistine Chapel is absolutely and completely moved.
However, with the pandemic, getting to travel to the Vatican City to see the Sistine Chapel in person isn’t as easy to do, that is, until the remarkable Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition made its way to Los Angeles. It’s time to experience the brilliant artistry of the Sistine Chapel in a way that has never been done before with this truly unrivaled exhibition. After touring the world for almost six years now, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is back for its third time in Los Angeles for attendees to immerse themselves in this stunning chef d’oeuvre.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition, located in the heart of La La Land, has been open to the public since August 2021 and will continue to welcome art enthusiasts and guests until November 14, 2021. Upon arrival, attendees get access to an audio guide, allowing them to be fully engrossed inside this artistic world of wonder. The audio guide is an hour and a half in length, but for attendees who would rather explore the exhibit on their own, the experience provides enough signs and information on each of the frescos to read at your own pace.
The surreal exhibition has everything from The Prophet Jonah to The Creation of the Sun, Moon and Earth, The Separation of Light and Darkness, the glorious and impressive Creation of Adam, and The Last Judgment. What makes this exhibition so unique is that visitors actually get to see all of these phenomenal creations up close and personal in their actual size.
A lot of hard, conscientious work was put into making the Sistine Chapel Exhibition as authentic as possible.
“There’s been a lot of research done, and to also reproduce [the frescos], we had to find the right material to give it the look and feel of the fresco,” said Martin Biallis, the extraordinary producer and visionary of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition in an exclusive interview with AlexisJoyVIPAccess. “Because a fresco, as you know, is not like an oil painting, it’s when the artist paints on wet plaster, and then when it dries, it absorbs the color.”
Biallis described the experience perfectly in one word: edu-tainment (education + entertainment). It’s a marvelous place to learn more about one of the most revered works of art. It’s a one-of-a-kind space that gives exhibition-goers the opportunity to truly take in all of the glory of the Sistine Chapel in full detail. On top of all of the invaluable knowledge you’ll gain from visiting this exhibition, it’s also a stupendous place to capture great memories on your camera and take an abundance of photos with the life-size versions of the frescos.
Whether you are an art virtuoso or are just getting acquainted with the art world, this exhibition truly is for you. If you’re a teacher yearning to take your class on a magnificent field trip or if you’re an art major in college yourself, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is nothing short of a true must-see.
“This is for everyone really, not just Catholics or Lutherans,” said Biallis. “It’s about the art, and the beauty, and the messaging.”
AlexisJoyVIPAccess had the honor of getting to attend Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition and brought my 91-year-old great-grandmother and uncle from New York to this magical experience. An artist herself, my great-grandmother was speechless inside the exhibit.
“I only used to see this in the art books,” said my great-grandmother, Zny. “It’s amazing to see copies of these pieces.”
My great-grandmother was so compelled by Michelangelo’s unparalleled skills as a sculptor and how that translated to his work in paintings as well, seeing all of the muscles and definitions of each of the individuals seen in the frescoes. It was such a memorable experience for her, one that she has been reliving over and over again by reading her treasured Sistine Chapel exhibition souvenir book.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is an experience like no other and is perfect for people of all ages to appreciate. It’s an exhibit that every visitor will relish and cherish forever. The exhibition has made its way all over the world already – from Shanghai to Berlin, Los Angeles, London, Mexico City and beyond, with upcoming stops in New York, Madrid, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, and many more.
Take a trip to the Vatican City, without the long plane ride, and head on over for a sensational experience at Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition. Not only is the exhibit a truly special and noteworthy time, but it’s also incredibly affordable as well, with ticket prices starting at $19.20 for adults and $13.50 for kids.
