Slime here, slime there, slime… everywhere! Nickelodeon is known for being the home of the renowned green goo that everyone wants a bit (or a whole lot) of, so naturally, for the network’s first in-person Kids’ Choice Awards since the pandemic, they had to do it big when it comes to sharing some slime love, and they did not disappoint. The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2022 made its exciting return as a live event on Saturday, April 9 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California and the night featured a record-breaking 1,000 unforgettable slimings. Hosted by Nickelodeon veteran and iCarly fan-favorite actress, Miranda Cosgrove and NFL icon, Rob Gronkowski, this year’s awards show definitely took the title for the best KCAs yet!

Thousands and thousands of votes had poured in from fans all over the world, and the event celebrated kids’ favorites in the worlds of TV, movies, music, social media, and more. There couldn’t have been two of the most perfect hosts for this fun-filled awards show than Cosgrove and Gronkowski, who had such a great camaraderie and friendship on (and off) the KCA stage. They brought even more terrific energy to the magical night.

Viewers were treated to not just one, but two, exceptional performances at this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards. Grammy award-winning musician, Kid Cudi had fans jamming out to his superb performance of a medley of his new song, “Stars in the Sky” and his hit track, “Pursuit of Happiness.” Global rap star and multiple Grammy-nominated artist, Jack Harlow gave fans a show they’ll never forget by performing his chart-topping song, “Industry Baby,” as well as two tracks from his upcoming album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, “Nail Tech,” and the song that we all have on constant repeat, “First Class.” No Kids’ Choice Awards is complete without some special slime surprises. While wearing an all-white outfit during his performance, Harlow got doused in green slime and called the moment a “bucket list” opportunity in a post shared on his Instagram.

Fans were in for a lot of phenomenal treats at the KCAs. None other than the admirable and influential First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden made a special appearance at the event. Dr. Biden spoke about the “resilience of today’s youngest generation, especially children of military members and veterans, and encouraged America’s youth to keep growing, learning, and giving back to their communities” (source: press release). The First Lady leads the White House’s Joining Forces initiative, which helps support military and veteran families, caregivers, and survivors. This year’s Kids’ Choice Awards was extra noteworthy as according to the press release, “in recognition of the Month of the Military Child, the KCA audience included more than 45 Southern California military children and their families associated with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the Armed Services YMCA.” This was such a heartwarming and inspiring way for Nickelodeon to recognize the strength and pure brilliance of children of military members and veterans.

The Kids’ Choice Awards was nothing short of a star-studded and spectacular event. Kids were able to enjoy seeing a countless amount of their favorite celebrities with outstanding appearances from Olivia Rodrigo, Gabrielle Union, Heidi Klum, Terry Crews, Sofia Vergara, Chloe x Halle, Charlie Puth, Chance the Rapper, Charli D’Amelio, Dixie D’Amelio, Jace Norman, MrBeast, Joshua Bassett, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Jordan Fisher, Sabrina Carpenter, Sofia Carson, Josh Peck, Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Isla Fisher, Peyton List, Xavier Woods, Ralph Macchio, Unspeakable, Joseph Baena, Karl Jacobs, the D’Amelio family, and many more.

Well, Nickelodeon didn’t just limit the awesome slime happenings to the Barker Hangar in California, the slime went all around the world including the University of Southern California Marching Band, Chance the Rapper and Westcott Elementary School in Chicago, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, and iconic landmarks across the U.S. all getting their fair share of green goo.

MrBeast, Charlie Puth, Dixie D’Amelio, and the casts of Danger Force and Warped! all got very pleasant slime surprises at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2022. Of course, our KCA hosts weren’t spared. Miranda Cosgrove and Rob Gronkowski were also drenched in green.

The excitement didn’t stop there. Fans were also able to get a first look at the animated action-adventure feature film, DC League of Super-Pets, presented by voice cast members Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, as well as the martial arts animated comedy film, Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, presented by voice cast member Samuel L. Jackson.

This year also had a thrilling journey we have never experienced before at any previous KCAs with Nick’s signature orange blimp making its way into the metaverse (or shall we say… Nickverse) and spotting celebrity avatars.
