Is it just us or is it getting hot in here because the incredibly talented Louis Knight is bringing the heat with the release of his new single, “Burn This All Down.” The passionate song came from a period of time in Knight’s life where he took a break from music during the pandemic. It was during this time that the remarkable singer / songwriter was really able to get back in touch with his love for writing songs and reconnect with what it means for him to be an artist. Needless to say, “Burn This All Down” is a terrific comeback track for the outstanding musician, who clearly always has the great gift for music running through his veins.

Fans know Knight for his successful time as a Top 7 finalist on season 18 of American Idol. During this wonderful journey, the “Change” singer wowed both viewers and judges alike with his show-stopping vocals. All of Knight’s performances left everyone completely speechless. His singing voice is one-of-a-kind and is something that will give you chills each and every time you hear it.

With extraordinary songs like “Maybe That,” “Just Kiss Me,” “State Lines,” and “Twisted Conversations,” to name a few, Knight truly is a knight in shining armor in the music world and his songs will move you in more ways than imaginable. “Burn This All Down” is the latest addition to the sensational artist’s roster of mind-blowingly great tracks. The single gives some Ed Sheeran vibes, while having Louis Knight’s unique, musical talent that makes each one of his songs stand out. The sweet strums of the guitar in the beginning of the song are beautiful, and eventually builds up to an electrifying sound that symbolizes a great moment of self-reflection and discovery. Knight also released a striking music video to the song that you’re definitely going to want to watch over and over again.

Knight has a lot of upcoming excitement up his sleeve. He will be releasing his much-anticipated, six song EP later this year. (More Louis Knight music? Yes, please!) He also has plans to head out on a coast-to-coast tour, and you certainly won’t want to miss seeing this exceptional musician live in concert. In the meantime, Los Angeles fans can enjoy hearing Louis Knight’s melodic vocals in person at his concert at The Mint on May 6.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Congratulations on all of the exceptional success with your career! First off, can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around music?

Louis Knight: Thank you so so much :) Honestly, music is all I’ve ever really known how to do. I was never particularly a good student, super ADHD hahaha. So, I’m lucky I can write a song. I was humming before I could speak and once I could, I’ve been singing ever since (I don’t think particularly well at first though 😭). I tried to write songs when I was about six or seven, but it wasn’t until I was 14 and my mum found me a piano on Craigslist for Christmas that I really started writing. I knew this is what I had to do with my life.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Your new single, “Burn This All Down” is an absolute hit. What was the creative process like making this stellar song?

Louis Knight: Thank you! I wrote this about going through a depression during the pandemic and losing myself and my relationship with songwriting for a while. I hadn’t written in months. I had just moved to LA and was hanging out one night with my friend, Francisco Martin. He started randomly playing some chords on the guitar and I started free-styling all these pent up feelings about my mental health and my career. The song just came to life!! It’s about me trying to find myself again and the frustration that comes with that. I co-wrote it with Francisco and our great friend, Wyatt Pike!

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: What was the experience like for you creating the awesome music video for “Burn This All Down?”

Louis Knight: It was really special to say the least. Not just for how cool it was to light a piano on fire haha, but I got to make it with my longtime friend, Danny Gevirtz. He directed, filmed, and edited the whole video! I did my first ever music videos with him when I was just a sophomore in high-school, so it was really nice to come together again.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: “Burn This All Down” is a song that is very personal to you and involves a lot of self-discovery. What would you say is something you learnt about yourself throughout the process of making this song?

Louis Knight: I’d say I learnt that I can still write and I always will be able to. As I said earlier, I hadn’t really written in months. I would try to and hate everything, thinking it wasn’t good enough. I think a lot of writers have this fear of, “what if I wake up one day and this ability just disappears?” I realized this is what I’ll be doing my whole life and I’ll always be able to, sometimes I’m just going to connect more to songs I create than others, and that’s okay.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: You have a six-track EP set to release this year. What was it like working on this EP?

Louis Knight: It was the most fun I’ve had in a long, long time. This has been a year and a half in the works of sitting on some of these tunes and waiting to get out here to LA to get them recorded! Some were also written with friends of mine here on the west coast. I couldn’t be more excited to step into this next chapter of my life and career and show everyone where I’ve been in the last year.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Do you have a favorite song lyric you’ve ever written?

Louis Knight: I’m sure this answer will continue to change as I write more, but off the top of my head, I think it might be from a song on my upcoming EP! The line is, “How do I get back, to who I was if it’s all gone.” I think we all struggle with feeling lost at some juncture in our lives, and this helped me realize the only way is forward and that I can’t go back. I’m going to continue to change and evolve, and that’s alright.

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Fans can look forward to an upcoming east-to-west coast tour. What are some of your tour must-haves before you head out on the road?

Louis Knight: I think I’d probably need to bring my pillow for sure ahaha. I’m honestly not sure, this is going to be my first real tour, so might need to check back in with you about that afterwards lol!!!

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: What are some of your pre-show rituals before a performance?

Louis Knight: I drink tons and tons of water. Also, if it’s a big show, I sometimes FaceTime my vocal coach/mentor, Paul Adkins for a quick pep talk!

AlexisJoyVIPAccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?

Louis Knight: I love you from the bottom of my heart. Know that you’re never alone, and you can get through anything that life throws your way. I can’t wait to grow with you with this next chapter. Thank you for being here! x
