There are not as many movies that stand the test of time the way the iconic film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial does. The Steven Spielberg-directed classic was way ahead of its time, featuring advances in cinematography and storytelling that was never done before. 2022 marks E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial‘s milestone 40th anniversary, with the motion picture having been released four decades ago on June 11, 1982. E.T. is one of those films that brings about a plethora of emotions. It’s a joy of a ride. It’s incredibly heartwarming. There are tear-jerking moments juxtaposed with scenes that will make you cry from laughing so hard. E.T. is a movie that surely holds a special place in everyone’s heart.

The extraordinary flick follows an extra-terrestrial named E.T. who is stranded on Earth. When a young boy named Elliott discovers the lovable alien, he welcomes E.T. into his home and introduces the being to his older brother and younger sister. The siblings keep E.T. a secret from the outside world – while creating unforgettable memories together like celebrating Halloween and dressing E.T. up in a wig. But, when E.T. becomes sick, the government intervenes and Elliott and E.T. must get through one of the biggest challenges yet – getting E.T. back home. The movie stars Henry Thomas as Elliott, Drew Barrymore as Gertie, Robert MacNaughton as Michael, and Dee Wallace as Mary.
