Push it! Push it! Hip hop icons, Salt-N-Pepa blazed the trail for female rappers and revolutionized that genre of music. That’s why, when Lifetime came out with the Salt-N-Pepa biopic, we couldn’t wait to learn more about the background of these hip hop geniuses. None other than the phenomenal GG Townson took on the role of Cheryl “Salt” James in the film, and she truly shined in the movie. Townson effortlessly and seamlessly brought Salt’s story to our screens in such a remarkable way. From humble beginnings to making history as the first female rap act to go platinum, the Salt-N-Pepa biopic was a music movie event like no other, with the wonderful GG Townson wowing viewers in each and every scene.
Aside from working on Salt-N-Pepa, Townson starred as Jameson Howard in the BET+ original series, Sacrifice. The gifted actress showed her versatility in this role by playing a star client of entertainment attorney, Daniella Hernandez. Townson’s character does whatever it takes to get what she wants. GG Townson always captivates the audience with every role that she portrays. She’s also been seen in the hit CW series, All American, and the movie, Welcome Matt, amongst many other excellent projects.
In addition to killing it on the big and small screens, Townson recently became a mom to her beautiful daughter. We love getting to keep updated with the marvelous Townson on social media and see all of the heart-warming photos she shares of the precious moments she’s been having with her bundle of joy. Whether it’s taking on an exciting, new acting project or embracing motherhood, Townson does it all with such grace. She is truly unstoppable!
