Nyad shared the phrase that keeps her motivated from the poem The Summer Day by Mary Oliver: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

Foster also expressed that what makes Nyad “one of the most inspirational people [she’s] met in her life,” isn’t that she achieved that near impossible swim, but it’s that she persevered even though she had failed several times.
