Prepare to get hit in your feels because Netflix has released the official trailer for its upcoming limited series One Day, and let’s just say, you’re definitely going to need a box of tissues next to you. It’s July 15, 1988, the day that Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew first spoke, and from then on, forever became intertwined in each other’s lives. Based on the bestselling novel by David Nicholls, the series follows two people over twenty years on that one special day of July 15.

According to the press release, “One Day tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on July 15, 1988, the night of their graduation, speak for the very first time. The next morning, they go their separate ways but where will they be on this one ordinary day the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows? Each episode finds Dex and Em, one year older, on this one particular date, as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak.”

The beloved love story is brought to life by Ambika Mod, who takes on the role of Emma, and Leo Woodall, who plays Dexter. The series also stars Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens.

The series format offers a perfect way to tell the decades-spanning tale. For those who have read the book or have seen the movie, Netflix’s One Day offers a different perspective that fans will truly love. Excited is an understatement to express how we feel about the show’s release.
