There’s nothing that says the start of summertime better than a good ‘ol rooftop celebration! Emmy-Award winning writer, actor, and producer Lena Waithe, and her production house, Hillman Grad, hosted a very special Summer Reunion in honor of season six of The Chi and Juneteenth. The event took place on June 22 at Lost DTLA in Los Angeles, California.
Attendees at the event were able to cool down from the summer heat with some delicious cocktails while enjoying scrumptious bites and tunes from DJs Gianni Carter and Ashley Younniä. Waithe also took part in a panel with The Chi stars Jacob Latimore, Luke James, and Rolando Boyce for a meaningful discussion about mental health and more on the show.
Guests went home with a gift bag filled with keepsakes to remember the remarkable event. One of the many wonderful treats inside the gift bags were terrific “Nachos” movie books from The Movie Book Club. The Movie Book Club, in association with Negritube Media Enterprises, launched at The Chi Summer Reunion event. “Nachos” are a new product for Hollywood writers and actors to get industry exposure.

According to the press release, “Nachos is a collection of four scripts, two movies, and two TV shows that are original content and non-greenlit IP. It offers a new way for cinephiles and lovers of the scripted word to read the best scripts Hollywood has to offer, helping them hit the screen.”
Creator and CEO Michael Elton Casey said, “It’s officially a new day in Hollywood! People who love the art of storytelling are no longer relegated to the movie theater and television. They can receive four scripts a month, of their genre choosing, as a physical “flip book” and be mesmerized beyond belief by the imaginative world building and literary craftsmanship of the literature. Not only that, but working artists who want to earn revenue and passive income sharing stories with lovers of the scripted word have a platform to get paid nine bonuses deep. This way, they can make money doing what they love.”

Nachos will be available on Aug. 15. For more information on The Movie Book Club, visit here.
