
Summer may have just started, but we’re already excited for a new semester to begin with Netflix’s highly anticipated film, My Oxford Year. Starring Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, My Oxford Year is filled with romance, emotion, and beautiful scenery that is bound to make you swoon.
According to Netflix, My Oxford Year follows “Anna (played by Carson), an ambitious young American woman who sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream. She has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.”

In addition to the aforementioned Carson and Corey Mylchreest, who plays Jamie, the cast also includes Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Harry Trevaldwyn, Esmé Kingdom, Nikhil Parmar, and Poppy Gilbert.

Was this movie filmed on location?
Indeed it was! The cast and crew filmed this spectacular movie on location at the prestigious university, adding to the authenticity and stunning scenery of the film. In fact, Carson shared her experience filming on location with TUDUM and said, “I chose not to visit all the locations where we would be filming because I wanted to save my honest reaction to witnessing the magic of Oxford for the first time, for once the cameras were rolling, to truly experience Oxford just as Anna would.” We can’t wait to be immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the university as we’re transported into this flick.
When is the release date for My Oxford Year?
School is in session on August 1, when this brilliant film makes its way onto Netflix.

Needless to say, we’re all incredibly excited for this film to be released, and August 1 couldn’t come soon enough. My Oxford Year, which is directed by Iain Morris, is based on the novel of the same name by Julia Whelan. The screenplay is by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne.
