Have you ever wondered just how scary something really is?! Enter ScareScore, the first-ever app that measures your body’s real-time reaction to fear. And what better time for this app to launch than at the start of spooky season?

ScareScore celebrated its launch at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, on Oct. 1, bringing together horror enthusiasts for a truly unique experience.

Tommy Wolczik, Scott Feldhacker, and Joey Taylor, who are partners and investors in ScareScore, were present, along with their families, Team Moms: Baseball stars Erin Wolczik, Heather Feldhacker, and Trina Taylor.

After a brilliant reception, guests were invited inside the theater to get the full experience.

Upon welcoming attendees at the event, ScareScore co-founder and founder of the cinema audio company SoundFi, Chris Anastas, shared more about the story and inspiration behind the app. He spoke about how the app is meant to “accelerate movies and attractions” and how it’s “going to be the world’s first global human scoreboard.”

Discussing what it was like to bring ScareScore to life, film producer and co-founder JP Ouellette said, “the audience is my favorite part.” With the audience always in mind as the end goal, ScareScore creates a one-of-a-kind journey.

So, how does ScareScore work?

ScareScore uses smartwatch data to measure how people physically react to movies and attractions in real time. Once you pair your smartwatch to the app, ScareScore tracks physiological responses like heart rate, flinches, and screams and turns that into your own personalized ScareScore.

One of the many fun parts about the app is the community it creates. Yes, it does indeed bring thriller movie fans together, but the app actually has a “Horror Fam Community” section where users can share photos, updates, or their ScareScore (if you’d like some bragging rights on just how much you can tolerate the shrills and thrills).

As Co-Founder Anastas shared, the app also has a scoreboard so you can see how exactly you rank amongst other horror buffs.

It’s clear to see that ScareScore is a genius idea. Has someone ever asked you if a movie was scary but you didn’t quite know how to rate it? Now, your ScareScore can help you with that.
