There’s nothing comparable to the immense joy and love that a furry friend brings. That’s why the work that Lisa Vanderpump and the Vanderpump Dog Foundation do to help find dogs their forever homes is so heartwarming. Vanderpump, her husband, Ken Todd, and the Vanderpump Dog Foundation continue to move mountains both nationally and globally to help put an end to dog abuse and neglect. The Vanderpump Dog Foundation hosted its 9th Annual World Dog Day event, presented by Society Gal, on Sept. 26 in West Hollywood, California, and the day truly embodied the foundation’s mission while making it an enjoyable celebration for pups and pup parents alike.
The atmosphere at the event was unlike anything else. From small dogs to big ones and every breed in between, these four-legged friends were frolicking around, with many sporting super cute doggy outfits and cooling off in the Splash Zone, presented by Three Peas in a Pod Productions.
All the Fun and Activities at World Dog Day
The event featured an endless array of terrific activities at every turn. This year’s World Dog Day, co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, featured more than 50 pet-centered vendors, live entertainment, a Doggy Play Park presented by Fresh Patch, and plenty more excitement.
Some of the event’s many highlights included the Vanderpump Dogs Look-Alike Contest, presented by The Posh Puppy Boutique, and the Doggy Pie-Eating Contest, hosted by Vanderpump Rules‘ Venus Binkley. Vanderpump Rules stars Jason Cohen, Chris Hahn, and Natalie Maguire, along with Vanderpump Rules and The Valley star Tom Schwartz, served as judges.
Attendees were also in for a treat with a live performance by Natalie Maguire.
“It’s the best day of the year,” said Vanderpump in our interview. “It’s a day when dogs are celebrated. In rescue, we see dogs abused or dumped, to actually be out here and see all these wonderful dogs just having a good time is my favorite day.”
The Many Hats of Lisa Vanderpump
During our interview at World Dog Day, Vanderpump mentioned that she had just returned from filming season four of Vanderpump Villa, and it’s clear that she truly is a dynamo. From saying “Viva Las Vegas” and recently opening The Vanderpump Hotel in Las Vegas to embarking on a book tour to promote her new book, Home at Villa Rosa, working on her many renowned restaurants and shows, and everything in between, nothing seems to be slowing Vanderpump down. Despite how busy she is, she always makes giving back and supporting dogs in need a top priority.
The Vanderpump Dog Foundation has an abundance of initiatives to help dogs, from its Rescue Center to the Vanderpump Nursery, which assists with the relocation and safe upbringing of pregnant mothers and their litters. The foundation also supports various medical cases and legislative efforts. It has changed the lives of more than 3,000 dogs in Los Angeles alone, and its impact continues to be felt around the world.
At a time when we need positivity the most, Lisa Vanderpump and the Vanderpump Dog Foundation truly deliver it. Vanderpump leads by example, using her platform to ensure that no dog is left behind.
