It’s always a good time to binge-watch an awesome show on Netflix, and if you’re looking for a new show to get hooked on, family comedy, Family Reunion should definitely be your pick! Family Reunion, starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Loretta Devine, first captivated fans with its release on Netflix this past summer, and everyone has truly been enjoying getting to join the McKellan family on all of their fun adventures. The outstanding show has brought a countless amount of laughs and heart-warming moments and is ready to bring a whole lot more! Part two of the series will release this Monday, January 20th, with a second season in production next month. It goes without saying, we can’t wait to see all of the excitement that’s in store in all of the new episodes of this show.
One stand-out star in the series is the lovely Jordyn Raya James. At only nine-years-old, Jordyn Raya James has already made her mark in the entertainment world. She stars as fun-loving Ami in Family Reunion. Fans always enjoy seeing the talented Jordyn Raya James in each and every episode. Jordyn started her career in the entertainment industry at the ripe age of 18-months-old, when she modeled for a known toddler brand. Ever since then, she has been continuing to wow all viewers with her sensational projects. Jordyn Raya James has also worked on other brilliant shows including the Facebook Watch series, Five Points, the Amazon Original series, Homecoming with Julia Roberts, and she is even a familiar face in the Fine Brothers’ hit YouTube series, Kids React.
Jordyn Raya James is a well-rounded, young lady. She’s a gifted actress and when she’s not working on set of her show, she focuses her time on her education, cherishes great moments with her family and passionately helps charities she supports. Jordyn Raya James has a promising future ahead of her and we can’t wait to see what will happen to her character in future episodes of Family Reunion.
Alexisjoyvipaccess had a terrific time interviewing Jordyn Raya James all about what the experience has been like for her working on Family Reunion, what her favorite episode is from the show, and acting advice she has received from co-stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Loretta Devine. Alexisjoyvipaccess: Congratulations on all of the amazing success with your career. Can you tell us what inspired you to focus your life around acting?
Jordyn Raya James: I really enjoy playing different roles and characters. Each role has a story behind it, and I enjoy getting the character’s story out there.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: You star as Ami in the hit, Netflix family comedy show, Family Reunion. What is it like for you working on the series?
Jordyn Raya James: It is really fun! I have a lot of excitement for each episode we film because I love playing the role of Ami, and really love seeing all of the other cast-members, because they are like family to me and are really fun! At the same time, we all have to work hard. I have to learn the scripts, plus also understand the scripts so the acting can be more natural. Sometimes, there are long days and early mornings; but it is such a joy to work on this show.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Do you have a favorite episode that you’ve worked on from the show?
Jordyn Raya James: I really like the Christmas episode because it was really fun to film, and I love the Christmas time. However, episode six (the RV episode) is really my favorite, because I loved filming the scene where the entire family is attacked by raccoons. This episode just had a lot of fun to it.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Can you spill on some behind-the-scenes fun that happens while working on the show that fans may not know about? Do you guys ever play any pranks on each other?
Jordyn Raya James: Well, I can’t give any spoilers on episodes, but the entire cast loves to dance in between most of the scenes. This one time, Mrs. Tia was giving a tour of the set while doing an interview for E.T. (Entertainment Tonight) and all of the kids and Mr. Anthony hid around the set and jumped out at different times to scare her – it was really funny.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: You get to work with spectacular actresses including Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Loretta Devine in Family Reunion. Is there anything you have learnt from these brilliant actresses / advice you’ve received from them that sticks out to you the most?
Jordyn Raya James: What sticks out is that they offer some coaching when we are blocking a scene, so I would be positioned the best for the camera. Being my first multicam (multiple camera) show, it takes some getting use to; but they have certainly helped me. Both Mrs. Tia and Mrs. Loretta are so nice and helpful.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Family Reunion also got picked up for a second season. What would you like to see happen to your character in future episodes of the show?
Jordyn Raya James: I have been thinking about this one for some time, and I think it would be cool if Ami found a stray dog that she wanted to keep, and Ami would do some hilarious stuff to try and convince Cocoa (Tia Mowry) and Moz (Anthony Alabi) to keep it.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: You’ve also worked on the Facebook Watch series, Five Points. What was that experience like for you?
Jordyn Raya James: It was kind of deep and different from Family Reunion because Five Points is a dramatic show while Family Reunion is a comedy.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: If you could guest-star on any other TV series, which show would it be?
Jordyn Raya James: I would love to be on Blackish because it is a great show and I would love to meet Marsai Martin.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Who is your dream actor / actress to work with on a project?
Jordyn Raya James: I would love to meet a lot of people like Marsai Martin, but I would really look forward to doing a project with Billie Eilish or Kyle Exum from YouTube.
Alexisjoyvipaccess: Lastly, if you could bring out one message to all of your fans, what message would that be?
Jordyn Raya James: Don’t give up no matter what it is, and always keep working! Also, catch Family Reunion part two coming out January 20th.
