Grab your mic and get ready to jam out as Netflix’s much-anticipated, new, musical series, Julie and the Phantoms is making its way onto the streaming platform on September 10th! The wonderful show, executive produced by none other than the genius himself, Kenny Ortega, will bring great music, awesome choreography and a whole lot of fun to our screens.
Julie and the Phantoms follows “high schooler Julie (Madison Reyes) who lost her passion for music after her mom died last year. But, when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians (Charlie Gillespie, Jeremy Shada, Owen Patrick Joyner) from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom’s old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit beginning to reawaken, and she’s inspired to start singing and writing songs again. As their friendship with Julie grows, the boys convince her to create a new band together: Julie and the Phantoms. From Emmy Award-winning director Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Descendants), executive producers Dan Cross and Dave Hoge (The Thundermans, Pair of Kings), and choreographer Paul Becker (Descendants, Mirror Mirror) comes a fresh and exciting, new musical series about embracing life’s ups and downs, following your dreams, and discovering the power of your own voice” (source: press release).
Before we all rock out to this awesome show, let’s meet the spectacular cast who are bringing this terrific story to life!
Madison Reyes – “Julie”
Newcomer Madison Reyes is truly one to watch in the entertainment world! She is incredibly talented and her singing voice is AH-MAZING!! We know she is destined to do big things throughout her acting career and we can’t wait to see her great talent in Julie and the Phantoms.
Charlie Gillespie – “Luke”
Love the TV series, Charmed? Then, you know the awesome Charlie Gillespie. The brilliant actor has showcased his exceptional talent in projects including CW’s Charmed, as well as the TV series 2nd Generation and Degrassi: Next Class, to name a few. We can’t wait to see Charlie show off his rockstar side in the series. He also plays the guitar so magnificently!
Jeremy Shada – “Reggie”
Oh, NBD – he just so happens to voice the role of one of the most iconic, animated characters – Finn from Adventure Time – he’s the amazing Jeremy Shada. Shada is a gifted voice-actor and has worked on projects including Adventure Time, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Voltron: Legendary Defender, amongst many others. He also starred in Mr. Student Body President and continues to wow fans in every project he is a part of.
Owen Joyner – “Alex”
The terrific Owen Joyner is a familiar face in a countless amount of remarkable projects. He starred in Nickelodeon’s hit shows, 100 Things to do Before High School and Knight Squad. On top of being an exceptional actor, he’s also a wonderful drummer and we look forward to seeing more of his drumming skills in Julie and the Phantoms.
Booboo Stewart – “Willie”
The phenomenal Booboo Stewart is no stranger to being a part of epic projects. He’s worked with the mastermind Kenny Ortega in the highly-acclaimed Disney Descendants franchise and plays the unforgettable role of Jay. For all Twilight fans, you remember Booboo Stewart in the fan-favorite franchise as he portrayed the role of Seth. The list truly goes on and on when it comes to Booboo Stewart’s impressive acting resume. He is also a magnificent artist as well.
Cheyenne Jackson – “Caleb”
Cheyenne Jackson always does a show-stopping job in every project that he is a part of! He’s worked on numerous projects including American Horror Story, Disney’s Descendants 3, 30 Rock, and more. Jackson is also a father of two, incredibly cute kids – you need to check out his Instagram and see their adorable pictures!
Carlos Ponce – “Ray”
Carlos Ponce is someone who can do it all! A stellar actor, singer, composer and television personality, Carlos Ponce has worked on an endless amount of outstanding projects. He’s been a part of many Spanish language soap operas. His list of excellent projects include “Silvana Sin Lana,” “Lady Altagracia,” “Major Crimes,” “Devious Maids,” “Couples Retreat,” and many, many more.
Savannah Lee May – “Carrie”
The marvelous Savannah Lee May is known for her fabulous work in Nickelodeon’s Knight Squad. She’s also shared her indescribable talent in projects including School of Rock, Bizaardvark, as well as the Lifetime film, The Secret Life of Cheerleaders. Savannah Lee May is such a vibrant, ray of sunshine!
