When Cassie blew out the candles on her birthday cake, actually living out her 25th year maybe should have been at the top of her wishes. In Netflix’s much-anticipated film, Afterlife of the Party, Cassie (played by the multi-talented Victoria Justice) is having the time of her life welcoming in her birthday, and nothing can stop her from celebrating her big day… not even her best-friend Lisa, who suggests they can celebrate by “staying at home.” Well, there may be one thing that can prevent Cassie from totally living out her “you only live once” lifestyle… She dies at her birthday celebration. And her first concern – did it go viral?
But, when it’s time to determine where Cassie is meant to go in her afterlife, her guardian angel, Val gives her only five days to make things right with three very important people in her life – her dad, her mom, and her BFF Lisa (played by the terrific Midori Francis). Can she do it all in time? Well… she’s going to need a little help. Whether she’s planning her next party or now is in afterlife limbo, Cassie can always count on Lisa to be by her side and assist her with making things right with her loved ones. What ensues is a lot of fashion makeovers, dating advice, and dance parties as Cassie embraces her second chance at life.
This outstanding movie is not only jam-packed with tons of fun and hilarious moments, but the best part of it all is its central theme showing the power of female friendships. Needless to say, you’re definitely going to want to find the Lisa to your Cassie and give them the tightest hug.
We have our countdowns set and are marking down our calendars for the film’s release on September 2nd on the streaming platform. Fans will adore meeting the wonderful cast of the flick comprising of the aforementioned Justice and Francis, Robyn Scott, Adam Garcia, Timothy Renouf, Gloria Garcia, Myfanwy Waring, and introducing Spencer Sutherland. The cast is an absolute dream team and we’re beyond thrilled to see their work on our screens as we watch Afterlife of the Party over and over again.
