September is always a busy and exciting month. There’s Labor Day weekend, kids going back to school, the beginning of fall, and for all Los Angelenos, September has become the month we all look forward to because of the Los Angeles Times Food Bowl. The Food Bowl is back for its seventh year bringing food extravaganza to several, spectacular events all across the city. From a night celebrating Mexican and Caribbean dishes to some good ‘ol barbecue and burgers, this year’s Los Angeles Times Food Bowl has a brilliant lineup you don’t want to miss out on.
The L.A. Times Food Bowl will kick off on Sept. 6 with its launch party at the Lemon Grove at the Aster rooftop. Sponsored by Singapore Airlines, this terrific celebration starting off all of the foodie fun will feature all-inclusive food and drinks. Yes, you read that right, all-inclusive food and drinks. There will be tastings from local and international guest chefs including Malcom Lee (Candlenut, Singapore), Keith Corbin (Alta Adams), Jon Yao (Kato), Stephanie Izard (Girl & the Goat, Cabra), Courtney Kaplan and Charles Namba (Ototo, Tsubaki), Margarita and Walter Manzke (Bicyclette Bistro), and Marcel Vigneron (The Aster’s Lemon Grove), plus bites from Levain Bakery of New York City and local favorite Lunasia Dim Sum House. All of the food excitement continues with the Gold Award Dinner on Sept. 12 at 6pm PT and the Restaurant of the Year Dinner on Sept. 13 at 7pm PT. This year’s honoree for the prestigious Gold Award is Park’s BBQ. Guests will get their grub on at the Gold Award Dinner with some scrumptious appetizers and drinks as well as a family-style Korean BBQ that will highlight Park BBQ’s fan-favorite dishes. Tickets for this event are sold-out, but you can still join the Restaurant of the Year Dinner honoring this year’s recipient, Holbox. The intimate dinner will feature curated dishes highlighting Holbox’s Yucatan-style seafood specialities, including passed appetizers and welcome drinks followed by a five-course tasting menu. Of course, one of the highlights of the L.A. Times Food Bowl is Night Market and this mouth-watering event will take over the Paramount Pictures Studios Backlot for three, consecutive nights on Sept. 22, 23 and 24.
